Born In East LA

This song was not a Cheech Marin solo project. In fact, it's track #1 fron the Get Out Of My Room LP. Chong does provide some vocals as well. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 75.69.145.64 (talk) 23:12, 13 March 2007 (UTC).

this article definently needs....

at least a list of their albums, if not more details. ike9898 (talk) 22:14, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

Image

Previous image was copyrighted (taken from the Cheech & Chong.com website) but the uploader had it as being a self-owned image that h/she was releasing into the public domain. Article needs an actual free image, meaning not something taken off of a Google search. Sure, they broke up, but so did Mr. Bungle, and someone still managed to get a good, non-copyrighted image of the band for that article. The image, references and a little clean-up would improve the article greatly. (Ibaranoff24 (talk) 13:47, 5 January 2008 (UTC))

Born in east l.a.

Born in east l.a. was a movie too dickhead, that's what I was talking about, and on the movie, chong had nothing to do with it, don't fuck around with me when it comes to cheech and chong! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Yeahbutnobut92 (talkcontribs) 07:24, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

Some sense of grammar

"His father, a Los Angeles police officer, who eventually moved his family to L.A.'s San Fernando Valley, a suburb considered advantaged."

I have made this sentence slightly less grammatically nightmarish. DanTheShrew (talk) 17:45, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

I don't like the "Background" section

Personally, I don't think this section's what it could be. The switch from Marin's background to Chong's reads confusingly. It is by no means seamless and in my opinion should be reviewed by the author. Perhaps some kind of heading for seperate backgrounds, if these are deemed necessary. I actually think much of this "background" information belongs on each individual's personal Wikipedia pages. This is an article representing the comedy duo. There are seperate pages for the individuals concerned.

Any thoughts? DanTheShrew (talk) 17:52, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

Also:

"The bustling, Dallas-like metropolis, nestling in the Canadian Rockies and world-famous for its rodeos, oil riches and wide-open lifestyle, seems somehow fitting as the place where Tommy Chong grew up."

How can the author back this up? What is their reference?

I'm not about to disagree with what is being said, but it's not really Wikipedia language, is it? DanTheShrew (talk) 17:55, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

Actually, seeing as it's POV and fits horribly within the article anyway, I'll be removing the above sentence. DanTheShrew (talk) 17:57, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

I'd heard the pair met when they were both serving in the military in Viet Nam in the early 1970's. It'd be interesting to know more about that and their path to success. -Anon —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.216.198.69 (talk) 23:18, 27 July 2008 (UTC)

What? Tommy Chong is Canadian and did not become naturalized until the 80s. How could he have served in Vietnam? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.79.246.44 (talk) 06:43, 27 October 2008 (UTC)

Biography

I must say, that when those of us who were young and experimental (with drugs), these movies were like The Stoner Bible "on tape". I have also heard that Tommy and Cheech never touched drugs during their respective era? Seems not so, but the irony would not shock me. anyone?...i say they probly were backstage..

Cheech Marín said in an interview that one on occasion, they did try to film while under the influence, but since the result was disasrous, they swore off smoking while filming. My suspicion is that they did partake when off-camera.--Rockero 22:49, 22 March 2006 (UTC)

I think this article should focus on the duo mostly. It seems to split and talk about other projects Cheech and Chong have done separate. -JJ

Cheech and chong was controversial for its' politically charged satire of illegal drugs (marijuana, of course), minorities (Cheech was a stereotypical Chicano, true he was of Mexican descent), anti-elitism, hippies, stoners, counterculture and shock rock bands. If Cheech and Chong was out today, the politically correct, the "war on drugs" attitude and the moralist right will pull it off the air. I can see why we in America out of all places, can't have these topics and subjects without offending somebody (especially Latinos or Hispanics, since the characters exhibit "ghetto" minority characteristics) or would get cancelled/removed from movie theaters, radio stations or TV network. I think Cheech and Chong of the 1970s/80s is the greatest comedy duo after Laurence and Hardy of the 1940s/50s. Most fans who don't smoke weed or not into drug abuse think Cheech and Chong are very hilarious people. + 63.3.14.129 00:17, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

I have added a temp "background" rewrite for review and inclusion in the article, to replace the copyright-infringing "background" article that was stolen from the Cheech & Chong official web page: Talk:Cheech_&_Chong/Temp --MrPenbrook (talk) 17:54, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

Is the term "less-than-stellar friendship" encylopedic? 121.222.247.191 (talk) 02:43, 27 June 2009 (UTC)
