Inconsistency between articles

[edit]

The https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Checker_Marathon article says the Checker Marathon was a consumer car, different than the Taxi. This page says the taxi WAS the Marathon. Somebody needs to correct this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.36.119.64 (talk) 13:35, 18 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@65.36.119.64:

Okay sure... A few things you should know:

  1. Always sign your talk page post using 4 tidies (~~~~)
  2. You cannot internally source articles. E.g. Life means a living organism [1].
  3. No original research - see WP:NOR

--So here is what you need to do:

  1. Minding above, find a reliable source saying you claim is true.
  2. Provide a link to your source.
  3. Perform the edit. *If it is semi protected; create an account!*

Reply to CopernicusAD from anonymous reader/poster of above.

I am not internally sourcing an article. I am pointing out the flaws in the article and inconsistencies between two articles. "So here is what you need to do...." No, what I need to do is get back to work. Good luck to you!

When is Wikipedia going to, once and for all, drop the "Lists of miscellaneous information should be avoided" warning? Wikipedia has evolved and it is what it is. It's become so big, I don't think you'll ever change this aspect, so why keep trying? You need to realize this and move on, Wikipedia people. I look forward to these sections - it's what makes Wikipedia unique. HaarFager (talk) 23:33, 8 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

— Who was the cabbie???

I’ve got the DVD and he’s not credited.

There’s nothing on the IMDB either.

I’ve read through several fan web sites about the band and have come up with nothing there either.

Am I missing something?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Extract 1: Checker Taxi - “A Checker Cab and its cigar-chomping driver made cameo appearances in various Blondie music videos between 1978 and 1980. Their music video for "Call Me" centered entirely on the Checker and driver, travelling through the traffic-filled streets of Manhattan.”

Extract 2: The Best of Blondie - “The video had a storyline between the videos about a taxi driver in New York, who would see Blondie videos being played on TV screens throughout the city.”

The whole history section is copied from here. Is there a reason it needs to be done twice? TREKphiler any time you're ready, Uhura 13:54, 16 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Checking the facts

[edit]

I have reworked the article to make the content clearer but it now needs some good references to support the claims in the article. I will add some over the coming days but I am still concerned that that I may have misunderstood what was meant when I cleaned it up or that it was wrong before I started. Scope of article

[edit]

The article seemed to be a bit confused about whether it was about the Checker Taxicab (ie the vehicle) or the Checker Taxi Company. I have now made it clear that this article is primarily about the company and secondarily about the vehicle. If there is a desire to have a whole article about the vehicle I suggest we create a new article for 'Checker Taxi (vehicle)' and move this one to 'Checker Taxi Company' with 'Checker Taxi' as a disambiguation page. However... unless anyone else wants to promote that then I suggest we leave the article alone. PeterEastern (talk) 10:03, 22 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Taxi

I think that in the TV show, they used 1974 Checkers. Drsruli (talk) 05:10, 12 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
