I see my data has been removed.

And it's strange, too. Some was deleted as not being backed up (my backup is personal experience, first-hand, occasionally living there. Others were deleted though there were backup links. Others with no backup were kept. I could've made up the "notable residents" section too... I mean hey, not like I gave proof there, right? Hi there... info on Little Chebeague?

[edit]

I used to vacation there as a kid. One thing I never knew is if Little Chebeague was inhabited, and whether it was considered in the stated length or width of Great Chebeague. So like, does anyone own / live on Little C, or is it a protected wildlifearea... or something...?

(There used to be a very good Little Chebeague history page on the internet, but I'm having no luck in Google at finding it again).

Thanks. -a grandchild of "Poppy". --JINZONINGEN 73 11:20, 28 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

little chebeague is owned by the state and is protected wildlife

Hey

[edit]

Hi, just a heads up, I just edited the page. I'm a full time resident, and some things were a little whack, honestly. Please ensure you have properly researched and studied the rock before you start posting things on this page!

Post secession update

[edit]

I changed the intro a bit, and moved the pre secession paragraph to history. I left the April 5, 2006 date, although I suspect that the Maine House and Senate didn't vote on the same day. Jon kare 08:39, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Little Chebeague

[edit]

No source, but family story is that my Grandfather's family (My GF was Milton Webber)and a few others had a group of houses on "Indian Point" (I still call it "The Hook") that they decided to move to Little Chebeague (date unknown, probably around 1905-1920), so they spent summer and fall digging and lining shallow foundations, then when the bay froze transferred the houses to sleds and pushed them across the ice to Little Chebeague. The houses did not stand there, occupied, for very long, since by the 40s he was living (with my Grandmother) up on (what is now) Ruel Road, near the Historical Society. Also this story is hard to reconcile with the hotel on Little Chebeague that, as usual, burned down at some point.

If you are on the Island, call or go see Marianne (Webber) Brenton or Diane (Webber) Calder for the whole story. Pbrenton (talk) 15:13, 12 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
