Size of board
[edit]The article states that the board of seven officials is composed of three specific officials and either two or four others. What happens if there are just two others — are there more specific officials, or are there just five officials total, or is it done otherwise? Regardless, this should be fixed by someone who knows more than I do. Nyttend 01:00, 20 May 2007 (UTC)
- I've updated this. A charter township must have seven board members. General law townships can have either five or seven board members. I cited an MTA publication for this. The relevant statutes are dispersed through several sections of the Michigan Compiled Law and suffer from the typical deficiencies of legalistic language. older ≠ wiser 01:23, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
Proection against annexation
[edit]It's always been said that 'incorporating' a charter township allows greater protection against annexation by a city than, say, remaining a general law township, but it's never really explained why. And, the more I try to figure out why, the more I come to the conclusion that 'protection against annexation' may not actually exist. Can someone add or explain how simpling changing the number of members on a general law township's board and contracting out for services in any way protects against annexation by a city? --Criticalthinker (talk) 23:26, 13 September 2009 (UTC)
The Charter Township Act of 1947
[edit]In the external links section is supposedly to the text for the "The Charter Township Act of 1947". When you click on the link, however, it simply takes you to the 'search' page of the legislative website. With no idea of the number of the original act, there is no way to find the text. Can someone fix this? --Criticalthinker (talk) 23:42, 13 September 2009 (UTC)
