Encyclopedic tone?

[edit]

The article contains too many opinionated statements, e.g. on the "terrible" influence of the French Revolution, on Switzerland nearly falling apart (whatever that means), and on the "liberation" of Geneva. Pictet is described in worshipful terms. Events are treated vaguely and judgmentally. This is not a neutral tone. — ℜob C. alias ᴀʟᴀʀoʙ 18:43, 16 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rampant Plagiarism

[edit]

Most of this article is either directly plagiarizing or closely paraphrasing (in violation of Wikipedia copyright policy) the single source listed in the references column. That reference in turn plagiarizes an uncited source, an article written for the magazine Helvetia: magazine for the Swiss Society of New Zealand, titled "The man who invented the canton of Geneva: Charles Pictet-de-Rochemont, 1755 - 1824" Snowmanstan (talk) 12:27, 11 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It appears that the article from Helvetia in fact plagiarizes the source cited in this Wikipedia article; regardless, this article is still plagiarized. Snowmanstan (talk) 12:30, 11 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
