Citation needed: fighting
[edit]Since the 1st Maine Heavy Artillery saw little if any combat before Charles Hamlin became a staff officer, and since he was a staff officer at the time of Gettysburg and until the end of the war, I think a citation is needed for the statement that he "fought" at Gettysburg and other battles. He may have been present and may have participated in some way at Gettysburg and other battles. He even may have fought. Since his position suggests he may have been on the sidelines, however, I think that a citation is needed for this statement or the sentence should be revised to describe his actual actions or participation. Also, using "(general}" in the title is something of a stretch since he was mustered out before he was even nominated for the brevet award.Donner60 (talk) 10:18, 23 December 2010 (UTC)
