This reeks of NPOV...
[edit]I hope nobody minds, but I'm going to clean up a little bit of the rhetoric, or at least demand some citations. Tacobellis 02:46, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
Well, I at least wanted to update his latest career move. Tacobellis 02:57, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
Photos
[edit]Somebody get a picture and place it in. There would be plenty of good images, but this article really needs a profile pic and something with Mr. Barron at a demonstration or a speech.--Screwball23 talk 01:18, 1 May 2006 (
- Here are a few,
- Also, I think that an image of his reception of dictator Charles Mugabe-at City Hall-should be included.
- Unfortunately, I wasn't able to locate one on the Web.

[edit]Nearly all biographies of sitting or former elected representatives have dates of when they began service as representatives. All of that is missing from this biography. Dogru144 13:57, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
Neutral? What a joke
[edit]This article is littered with comments about how he is a savage, ignorant, racist, etc. No one has really added any factual info for a while on this page. I say to those who have hatred towards him to write facts, because of one simple reason: You didn't think up all the responses you wrote on his page from a vacuum; no, you read my research on him, found out about the travesties and racial strife he created and supported in Zimbabwe, riots, etc, and then you decided to respond to them with your feelings, which won't teach anyone new to the article anything at all. In fact, if someone who didn't know who he was decided to read about him from this article, they would see him as a really hated guy, and would never be able to understand why he is planning to run for Borough Prez of Bklyn. Keep that in mind when you think of being smart and writing a dumb response. Wikipedia is not for drama.--Screwball23 talk 21:14, 29 July 2007 (UTC)
Because he is an ignorant racist. So are you for supporting him. His is a fucking moron! He is hated by most everyone except illiterate and stupid blacks.
- First of all, you don't understand neutrality. Right now, you think I'm either with him or against him. The truth is, I don't like his issues, his personality, or his political/racial beliefs. However, in writing an encyclopedia entry of him, I set aside those inclinations I have and write facts, not feelings and I use information instead of labels and personal attacks, including ones on his fanbase. And to be honest, I have reason to believe you are challenging this article on more than simple political/moral grounds. You seem to hate his ideas with a passion, and calling him a neanderthal, an ignorant racist, and a fucking moron don't change a thing; you hate him, but he is still loved by a many in the black community; when you say he is "hated by everybody" or "many" or now, you say "most everybody", you are making up facts. There's no poll about how much people hate him. There's no grounds for you to say that except for your own stupid ideas. So just quit the drama, you baby. The only thing I hate hearing more than opinions and misinformation, is someone's personal problems.
As for me being an ignorant racist for supporting him, I think you should read the article with an unbiased mind, because I never wrote anything for him in the article; I researched and wrote up plenty of dirt on him, and that is why you have the opinions you do now.--Screwball23 talk 22:09, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
- He is quite literally a racist. He constantly refuses to speak out against antisemitism, and has openly boasted about keeping white people out of his "community" (whilst ironically wearing a Mao jacket). The comment are correct, to support this man means supporting racism. 5.66.20.44 (talk) 09:01, 6 May 2023 (UTC)
I agree, this entry is a joke. Let's start by replacing adl.org and similar references with neutral NPOV and preferably mainstream news sources. It's not as if we can't find numerous New York Times, Daily News and so on publications (Haaretz even reports on this stuff) describing virtually all the anti-Barron activities and accusations. Also, when accusing Barron of making an anti-Semitic statement, it is fair to allow readers to see the supposedly anti-semitic statement and judge it for themselves. None of that is in what is at present an anti-Barron propaganda piece.Haberstr (talk) 08:05, 19 June 2012 (UTC)
You either are or aren't a council member.
[edit]Comments like Charles Barron is currently a controversial Democratic New York City Councilmember. is surely weasel words, removed unless anyone thinks otherwise.
- not really. He is controversial, far more so than most other politicians. The statement doesn't make it seem as if his being a councilmember is in controversy, only that he personally is shrouded in controversy. But, saying he is currently a controversial ... implies that he is controversial now as opposed to his long-standing record of controversy. If anything, the statment could be divided into two:
Charles Barron is currently a Democratic New York City Councilmember for the neighborhoods of Bushwick... in Brooklyn. then, He is renowned for his outspoken approach on black issues and his frequent protests as a civil activist, making him a controversial figure in New York City politics.--Screwball23 talk 19:56, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
holocaust denier????
[edit]Why is he in the Holocaust denial category? There is nothing about this in the article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.163.252.120 (talk) 18:12, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

[edit]The article needs statistics on his electoral history.

walmart in brooklyn
[edit]Charles Barron is actively fighting the opening of Walmart in Brooklyn. Check it out. It could make an excellent new section: http://www.nydailynews.com/opinions/2010/05/02/2010-05-02_new_york_should_learn_to_love_walmart_the_lowcost_retailer_is_good_for_the_natio.html
