[edit]Although she accuses Harriette Wilson of massive lies, Julia Johnstone in her own "refutation" accuses Bamfylde of being a major pander using a place called The Fountain Tavern with exits onto Exeter Street and Catharine-Street, Strand. Johnstone pretends that she and Harriette's sister Amy declined his proposals but Harriette accepted and came home with new jewelry and a hat. They were all about as bad as each other, however, so there's no saying what the truth of this story is. Johnstone knows about the shooting. 100.15.117.207 (talk) 00:00, 24 April 2018 (UTC)
Although not apparently that Bamfylde died two weeks after the shooting of infection (or at least she does not mention this).
She claims his relationship with Harriette Wilson continued “for about a year” after their intimacy at the Fountain (she does not give the date) until he saw her in company with a sergeant and corporal of the Life Guards whereupon he supposedly exclaims “”Zounds! I have been keeping two huge life Guards and not a mistress!” And ends the relationship (p. 201, “confessions of Julia Johnstone” Harriette Wilson’s supposed seduction by Sir Charles Bamfylde (1753-1823) takes place on pp. 192-202. Johnstone claims Bamflyde was still polite to her after his falling out with Wilson (p.202) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 100.15.175.170 (talk) 21:29, 15 April 2022 (UTC)
