Baishakhi Mela 2007 controversy
[edit]Can't find links to the Evening Standard & East London Advertiser news articles around this controversy involving Channel S. Anyone watching have any info? → AA (talk • contribs) — 22:21, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
- I found a source from Ofcom, which has details of the controversy during the Mela in 2007, something to do with human trafficking. [1] Mohsin (talk) 18:14, 14 December 2008 (UTC)
Conviction controversy
[edit]"Surprisingly, little has been commented by other Bengali TV channels on the conviction suggesting that others may have been involved." Where has this come from? Bangla TV made numerous news reports of an exaggerated nature after the conviction sparking a press war. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.12.226.248 (talk) 13:16, 24 August 2008 (UTC)
Mahee Jail Sentence
[edit]Why is there no mention of the Channel S Founder / Chairman's conviction and subsequent 18 month imprisonment for insurance fraud? There was a paragraph relating to this but has been removed by someone. Why? —Preceding unsigned comment added by StepUpToThePlate (talk • contribs) 10:01, 20 October 2008 (UTC)
- I think this is a story of Bangla TV broadcasting news against Mahee during August, and causing a media row. But I never heard of him being arrested. Mohsin (talk) 13:21, 20 October 2008 (UTC)
Mohsin, not only was he arrested but in due course also tried and convicted, along with other accomplices, in Croydon Crown Court culminating in an 18 month jail sentence. I am not surprised that you are not well informed as their seems to be scant details about. I, myself, read about it on the City Of London Police's own website [2] Your pal Mahee is known as Mohammed Ferdaus in this instance. I don't believe that even Bangla TV could have faked this minor news event. Cheers —Preceding unsigned comment added by StepUpToThePlate (talk • contribs) 19:08, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
- Hey thanks for the source, I have looked at it and it states it is Mohammad Ferdous he has been sentenced to 18 months in prison. It also states those sentenced and Mahee's details: 35, from Greenford, Middlesex, 18 months imprisonment. Are you really sure this is really Mahee or someone else ? I have not seen any news footage of this event what so ever, or heard of. Mohsin (talk) 19:12, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
Hello Mohsin, it is the same Mahee. News footage was shown of him attending Croydon Crown Court. You will also note that the Mohammed Ferdhaus in the City Of London Website 'ran his company ‘Prestige Auto Group’ from Walthamstow'. —Preceding unsigned comment added by StepUpToThePlate (talk • contribs) 19:41, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
- Yep I believe it now by reading it, says he run's the company Prestige Auto Group in Walthamstow (Channel S studio located there, and that's his company). Thanks for your contribution. (And remember to sign your name at the end of your comment by adding these: ~~ 4 times, learn more at your talk page message) Mohsin (talk) 19:47, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
Thanks Mohsin, will do so. Cheers —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.132.156.113 (talk) 19:49, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
- BanglaTV aired this news story and a media war broke out between the two channels. This would be worth mentioning if sources can be found. → AA (talk) — 22:15, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
- There are no sources available, but there are however videos from YouTube relating to the jail news and the media controversey with Bangla TV in throughout these videos, please watch (could be applied with these). Thanks. [3][4][5]
- These will be valid sources (quote the original news story rather than the YouTube video but you can link to the video). Can be added to BanglaTV's entry too. → AA (talk) — 10:24, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
- Hey I would try to add these information, but unfortunately my knowledge of shuddo is very limited :) you give it a go, thanks. Mohsin (talk) 10:45, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
- It's not "shuddho" - there is nothing "oshuddho" about any of the other languages of Bangladesh :) Proper term is "rashtriyo" - i.e. state language. Have been meaning to do a write up for a while but haven't had the time. It's on my (long) list of todos. → AA (talk) — 11:28, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
- OK i completely understand. Mohsin (talk) 18:02, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
