The photo - George Reid ( 1909) painting the Champlain's Dream article is incorrectly depicting the Indians in multiple canoes. It presents an imposing scene but all those Eastern Woodlands people sporting Dakota or Plains Indian feathered head dresses is totally incorrect.
I wish I had a more accurate picture to post of Huron or Iroquois or Algonquin warriors meeting the French ship. Perhaps the author of the article can find something more in tune with the era and location of the ship's greeting by Eastern Natives.
