Draft declined
[edit]The draft has been declined with a reference to WP:NMUSIC. I can't find any mention there regarding the notability of classical compositions. Wikipedia practice seems to be that any composition by a notable composer is sufficiently notable; there are thousands of articles on obscure compositions by Bach, Mozart, Schubert, obscure and lost operas by many composers, etc. This has been raised at Wikipedia talk:Notability (music) several times without any reflection in the guideline. In this particular case, the Champagner-Polka is widely available in print and recordings, and it is in the standard repertoire for concert performances. It is also mentioned in Strauss's entry at Oxford Music Online. Consequently, I think this work, and Draft:Ägyptischer Marsch, are sufficiently notable for a Wikipedia article. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 01:31, 5 January 2021 (UTC)
- See also comments at Talk:Johann Strauss II#notability problem regarding the creation of two articles related to Johann Strauss II. I intend to move this article to main space shortly, using its proper name, Champagner-Polka. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 10:10, 1 February 2021 (UTC)
