Indenting here is intended to imply family relationships. The current placement of Edgar Chamorro and Fernando "El Negro" Chamorro Rappaccioli implies they are brothers of Fernando, et al. Please determine their relationship to the family and insert where appropriate.James J. Peterka 00:04, 10 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I added the family line needed to reach Fernando "El Negro" Chamorro Rappaccioli and placed him in context. I left Edgar as an unknown. I need help on this one.James J. Peterka 01:24, 10 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know Edgar Chamorro's genealogy either. Based on Cruz Jr.'s Memoirs noting that he was a cousin of Pastora's advisor Carlos Coronel, I did a web search to see if Coronel might be his matronym, which turned out to be the case. Kinzer describes him as "distantly related" to PJCC. (And he doesn't appear in the index of Violeta's autobiography.) Glenn Garvin quotes him saying, "I'm the grandson of a president." His Wikipedia entry says that he is the descendant of four Nicaraguan presidents. If he really is the lineal descendant of those presidents, I don't see any line on your chart with four presidents as direct ancestors. That would mean that his line either married into one or more of the families of non-Chamorro presidents, or that somewhere two Chamorro-descended lines joined (making it possible that he has a "Chamorro Chamorro" in his background).
As for the indentation, that's moot now, but I did realize that it was intended to convey relationships. However, FC Alfaro was so far down that I didn't realize that he was still in the tree, and I thought by putting Edgar and El Negro at the end I was separating them from the tree. --Groggy Dice 22:42, 16 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Done more web searching, Carlos Coronel Kautz's father is Jose Coronel Urtecho, and I've found an article referring to a Carlos Chamorro Coronel as "his nephew," which suggests that Edgar Chamorro's mother is a sister of Jose Coronel U. --Groggy Dice 23:19, 16 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
We may as well leave him in the "Uncertain" section for now. I imagine other Chamorros will eventually qualify for inclusion, and can be placed there tentatively. -- J. Peterka 08:02, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I've found an obituary for Edgar's mother on the El Nuevo Diario site, which has allowed me to put in his parents. (Apparently she just passed away this June, at the age of 98.) I've created a little treelet just for Edgar, until he can be slotted into the main tree. As for how his father, Chamorro Benard, connects into the tree, another site has Filadelfo Chamorro Bolanos marrying Bertha Benard Vivas, and one of Edgar's brothers was named Filadelfo, which would fit in with this being his grandfather. With the genealogical references you seem to have access to, you are in a better position than I am to place his family definitively. --Groggy Dice 06:06, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Excellent! I can now trace the ancestral line back: Julio Chamorro Benard, Margarita Chamorro Barillas, Leandro Chamorro Zelaya, Pedro José Chamorro Bolaños, Pedro Joaquín Chamorro Alfaro. I'll somehow work this into the tree. J. Peterka 15:22, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I defer to your sources, but are you sure you have the Chamorro Benard line correct? Ordinarily, of course, Julio Ch. Benard would be expected to take the surname of his father, not his mother. Even if he adopted the Chamorro name due to its greater prestige, I'd expect him to use Vivas instead of Benard for his second surname. I already explained that I thought Filadelfo Ch. Bolanos might be Julio's father, not just because the names matched, but because Edgar had a brother named Filadelfo. If it's any help, Filadelfo Ch. Coronel was born in 1928, and based on his biography, Edgar was probably born around 1932. --Groggy Dice 02:44, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You are correct! I should have checked with my wife before coming to the conclusion I did. She is a granddaughter of Pedro José Chamorro Bolaños, knows the people personally, and agrees with you. I will fix the tree. J. Peterka 06:06, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Note: Many sources incorrectly list "Pedro Joaquín Chamorro Alfaro" as "Pedro Joaquín Chamorro Bolaños" and "Pedro Joaquín Chamorro Bolaños" as "Pedro José Chamorro Bolaños". J. Peterka 16:26, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Adding another figure

[edit]

By chance is the talented person who made this still around to help add Juan Sebastián Chamorro, son of Xavier Chamorro Cardenal, to this family tree? Thanks so much. Innisfree987 (talk) 03:40, 9 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
