This came up for me as a random article in need of copyediting. I have reduced the wall of text, sorted grammar etc, cut down the puffery and added wikilinks. The article is in desperate need of references. I think some claims are overstated, such as his role in bringing down the monarchy. There are also no sources for his education. As he was PM, albeit for a short time, there must be sources about his life and contributions to politics available. The article should also use Infobox officeholder rather than Infobox person.
I have tagged the paragraph about his investments as dubious. This is because it is almost the same as a paragraph in the article about Gyanendra of Nepal. The paragraph on Bastola currently reads "Bastola is also reported to have had a 54% stake in Himalayan Goodricke Tea, a 39% stake in Surya Nepal Tobacco, stakes in Annapurna Hotel, large tea plantations in Itahari, Himal International Power Corporation, Jyoti spinning mill in Birgunj ... ". The one on Gyanendra reads "the former king is reported to have 54% stake in Himalayan Goodricke Tea, 39% stake in Surya Nepal Tobacco, stakes in Annapurna Hotel which he inherited from aunt Princess Helen, large tea plantations in Itahari, and stakes in Himal International Power Corporation, Jyoti spinning mill in Birgunj ... ". I am minded to delete that section completely but wanted to ask for views here first. I will also ask the article creator about this. Tacyarg (talk) 17:41, 20 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
