Lion Gorge and Grays Gorge
[edit]My understanding is that the Nature Park includes Lion Gorge and Grays Chalk pit, both of which are SSIs. (see https://www.thurrock.gov.uk/chafford-gorges-nature-park/overview) Although they are more or less contiguous with the main area, they are separated by Warren Lane and Devonshire Road. (see map at http://www.essexwt.org.uk/reserves/chafford-gorges) However, they have separate entrances - both on Devonshire Road. I am therefore reverting the deletions by Dudley Miles. - You are right. I looked at the Natural England map at [1], which appears to show the SSSIs some distance from the park, but I see the map at [2] shows that the park is far more extensive than I realised. If you live locally and could photo Lion Pit SSSI (south of Philip Sidney Road according to the park map, but Weymouth Drive according to the Natural England map at [3]) and upload the picture to Commons that would be helpful, as there is no photo of it on List of Sites of Special Scientific Interest in Essex. - Uploaded 1 to the commons and 2 locally. All three added to this article. 1 added list of Essex SSSIs. Rjm at sleepers (talk) 19:22, 9 March 2016 (UTC)
- Great. Thanks for your help. Dudley Miles (talk) 19:41, 9 March 2016 (UTC)
