Cell membranes?
[edit]Viruses don't have cell membranes. If CSAs are active against viruses, the mechanism must be different. Maybe they attack the membranes of virus-infected cells? --209.178.149.111 13:39 February 8 2006 (UTC)
- I would not be so sure. HIV does have a membrane, for instance. 147.33.10.112 00:11, 11 February 2006 (UTC)
- Correct, many viruses have membranes that they 'steal' from the cells they infect. These 'envelopes' help protect the virus and help it attach to new cells to infect. Whether disruption of the lipid 'envelope' around HIV could be an effective method to destroying them is unknown at this point. -Deemt
