Don't know if anyone's reading this, but I'm unsure as to what the definition of alumni is. If we restrict it to people who actually graduated, we'd have to remove Kaman and, IIRC, Jeff Daniels.
Before Dr. Allen, the Voice
In an effort to create a much needed collection of band history, we are looking for information about the student announcers before 1973.
If you have any information about this topic or anything else about the history of the CMU Marching Band, please send to:

With the Greek RSO's being listed on the site, should we also think about including a list of the RSO's on the site as well? It could be attractive to prospective students as they can see what clubs and all are available. Thoughts? 76.112.93.101 (talk) 23:57, 18 July 2009 (UTC)
- I think it sounds like a good idea. Maybe a link to the RSO database (Reggie)? Yankhill (talk) 15:24, 21 July 2009 (UTC)
OK, I'm preparing to add the RSO's or the "types" of RSO's to the page unless someone objects to it on this talk page, and we discuss it. I think it's another way to present the University community to the world as well as prospective students. Any criticisms or concerns would be appreciated. Yankhill (talk) 06:00, 8 August 2009 (UTC)
changed the line about Lambda Chi Alpha's house being the only one not in the main st. area......neither is sigma lambda beta and Phi Sigma Kappa. In the future other groups will more than likely move.....especially some of the smaller ones. Keep in mind that at CMU most greek men's groups do not own their houses and therefore move quite often. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.231.180.54 (talk) 02:52, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
Size of Central
I'm not sure which is accurate, but both the CMU page and the WMU page list their respective university as the fourth largest in Michigan. I believe Central is in fact the third largest, anybody that knows for sure should edit appropriately.
- I'm a student at CMU, and as far as I've always known, CMU is known as the fourth largest in Michigan following MSU, U of M, and WSU- in that order. So the site should reflect this and should be cited. Thank you for any help Yankhill (talk) 15:23, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
- Found sources and corrected the statement. 68.60.76.178 (talk) 18:22, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
Songs
I believe they are still under copyright. They must be removed. -- find a legit link to them somewhere on the univ site. DGG ( talk ) 21:24, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
- Here's an available link on the CMU website: here and here.
- I'm not certain about copyright ... the webpage on which they are listed is copyrighted; but neither specifically identifies a copyright on the songs themselves. --- Barek (talk • contribs) - 21:39, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
Content removal-Directional Michigan reference
A deletion discussion recently took place on the article Directional Michigan. The result was "no consensus" In that deletion discussion, one argument was made that there were few links to the article. After the "no consenus" resolution was reached, one of the editors supporting deletion has been removing the links in the articles for Western Michigan Broncos, Eastern Michigan Eagles, and Central Michigan Chippewas as well as other articles such as Central Michigan University, using the argument of "undue weight given to directional michigan article" in the editing comments.
So here's the question (rather than get in an "edit war"): What does everyone think of this issue, and how should links to Directional Michigan be handled?
FYI-I will post this comment on each of the respective pages in the interest of gaining a "wider breadth" of discussion, but ask that we combine all comments on the Talk:Directional Michigan page.

Copyright violation
I've removed the "History" section of the article, as it appears to be a verbatim copy from [1]. cmadler (talk) 18:36, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
The History of Central Michigan University
The history of any institution of higher learning is an essential part of any article on it. This article has absolutely no section about the history at all, and that is a shame. I can give you just one piece of history: this school was formerly called the Central State Normal School, but I don't have any information about when that began or ended. Actually, when the name was changed to Central Michigan University was what I came here looking for. Some of you Chippewas out there should know when that was, and you should know about any other previous names and other important mileposts of this school. It is careless not to give this information.98.67.162.113 (talk) 23:53, 6 November 2013 (UTC)
- Please note that apparently the history material that was previously in this article was removed because it was a copyright violation. Feel free to add some original material from reliable sources. ElKevbo (talk) 00:35, 7 November 2013 (UTC)

This will probably need to go into a separate article, but here's the early links. Is there a broader article that discusses schools shooting in the USA? Rhialto (talk) 15:28, 2 March 2018 (UTC)
- I strongly caution against including more than a sentence or two about this event in this article, at least right now while it's still a news event with many unknown details and no information about its larger and long-term impact. ElKevbo (talk) 15:45, 2 March 2018 (UTC)
