discussion of nz censorship in robert helinlein's tramp royale
[edit]in Tramp Royale, author Robert Heinlein writes about a world cruise he took in the 50s with his 2nd wife. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tramp_Royale In his chapter on new zealand, he discusses censorship as being very extensive, that if a book wasn't written in new zealand it could be sold there. I don't know if this is rue or not. If true, the wikipedia entry needs major revision. robbin stewart 9/15 gtbear at gmail — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.167.56.142 (talk) 18:37, 11 September 2015 (UTC)
- I'm reasonably confident that the effect observed wasn't censorship but a combination of provincialism (the public being interested primarily in local things) and protectionism (high taxes on imports). Stuartyeates (talk) 20:16, 11 September 2015 (UTC)

What about lack of censorship?
[edit]Although this article touches on major issues of censorship, what about NZ's rather liberal policies towards, for example, sexual explicitness in TV programming? According to Wikipedia's own article on the topic of Watersheds, its says adults-only programming can be aired during school hours, for example, and it seems to be a rare case when an NZ-produced TV series does have sex or nudity in it. 68.146.233.86 (talk) 14:32, 15 May 2016 (UTC)

Working On New Content
[edit]Hi all. I'm drafting some additions to this article in my Sandbox, with most of the current focus being on censorship from ~1900 - ~1980. If you have some time please take a look! I'm new to editing Wikipedia so would appreciate any advice. Echowisp (talk) 04:14, 16 November 2018 (UTC)
