Newsbank article citation
[edit]For citation 3, you need to give more information about the Newsbank article. Date, title, link, etc. Dorianjay (talk) 18:35, 9 April 2024 (UTC)
- Yeah that was a placeholder before I could find the source at Harvard. It's in there now. Haaklikebird (talk) 00:45, 10 April 2024 (UTC)
Some Thoughts
[edit]Nice job so far @Haaklikebird. Some thoughts:
- I changed the opening to "American"; WP identifies people primarily by their Nationality, not by their race. MLK, for instance, has just "American".
- Its a bit light on linking at the moment; things like Snowhill, Alabama or 365th Infantry should be linked (many more examples throughout)
- Family Search is not a reliable source (see WP:RS)
- It looks like Eva Beatrice Dykes was among his students (cited in 196–197 here. So was Sylvia Olden Lee (cited here; I'd definitely include both. Any other students that could be mentioned?
- On WP, songs are in quotes, e.g. "Death of an Old Seaman". Song cycles are italicized.
- Any ref to cite his full name?
Keep up the good work! Aza24 (talk) 05:33, 10 April 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks! Re some sources, I'm admittedly reusing a little bit of work I did a couple years ago and no longer have the same access to those sources, but I can find them. I think the Snowhill, AL should be cited within the references that I do have (I'll make sure that's more clear), but the 365th might be more difficult since I'm pretty sure I originally go that from a draft card or WWI record of some kind. I'll definitely add Eva Beatrice Dykes and Sylvia Olden Lee, I've seen them pop up and I think I could find more students. His full name would be in a birth record, since after 1914ish he always went by his middle name (I've been guessing since there's another Charles Cohen composer/pianist that was a contemporary?? but that's just speculation).
- Thanks again for the feedback!! Haaklikebird (talk) 16:41, 10 April 2024 (UTC)
