The link to "millionaire art collector Peter Watson" actually links to some Australian clergyman.

This should probably be sorted. I don't know how.

Sorted. I created a stub for Peter Watson, who is quite a bit more significant culturally than the Aussie bishop, seeing as how he founded both the ICA and Horizon magazine, which were pretty important in mid-century. The stub's pretty raw but it'll do as a placeholder until someone who knows more than me can fill him out. I've been adding a few people from the midecentury Paris boho scene that revolved around James Baldwin, and Watson is a primary member of the Anglo contingent -- Cyril Connolly, Beaton, etc.Fnarf999 03:54, 27 April 2006 (UTC)

Added the fact that Beaton won Oscars for Gigi and My Fair Lady. Need a lot more info on his stage and screen design, which was very influential. Will add as time permits unless someone else wants to jump in.

In the US at least Beaton is better known for costume design than photography. PKM 21:35, 10 December 2005 (UTC)

Affair with Gary Cooper

Somebody removed text about Beaton having an affair with Gary Cooper. This sounds very familiar, and I think it might have been mentioned in the recently released "Unexpurgated Diaries". Can anyone say for sure? Patrick925 18:33, 15 June 2006 (UTC)

It is mentioned in Cooper's entry in "Halliwell's Who's Who in the Movies" (2006 edition).

Possibly copyvio

It seems like some of the confusing text about the Duchess of Amalfi derives directly in phrasing from the Fyne Times article. This wikipedia article could use some rewriting and better sources.--Larrybob (talk) 08:10, 11 December 2009 (UTC)

Cicil Beaton

Cicil Beaton (1904-1980)

The article text says "Cecil Beaton Papers, 1904–1980 (0.4 linear feet) are housed at Princeton University Library". Surely there is something awry here? It must be much more than 0.4 linear feet?TWAMWIR (talk) 10:42, 25 April 2013 (UTC)

It means five inches of shelf space, of course, and the amount of text depends on cow compressed it is, but I agree that rather more might be expected from 76 years. I would guess that the collected papers are just his diaries. Dbfirs 11:06, 25 April 2013 (UTC)
The papers at Princeton are chiefly correspondence with his friend and colleague Hal Burton. The majority of Beaton's letters and, all his diaries and other papers, are to be found at St John's College, Cambridge. I've amended the article accordingly. Eartha78 (talk)18:29, 06 August 2013

The word "Queen" is linked to Elizabeth II. I would have expected it to mean Elizabeth, queen consort of George VI of Great Britain in this context. I don't have access to the source. William Avery (talk) 12:56, 8 January 2016 (UTC)
