Squid?

[edit]

I somehow don't think the Fear is a giant squid, rather, some sort of multi-armed mollusk with a reall shell. O—— The Unknown Hitchhiker 04:16, 5 January 2010 (UTC) [reply]

Title

[edit]

Now why is the title of this article "Cavern of the Fear" while the article mentions it as "Cavern of The Fear"?... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.80.27.38 (talk) (talk • contribs)

The title is the correct one. I've changed it so that they match. Nick1372 (talk) 01:23, 17 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I am sorry, but you are wrong Nick1372. The book itself clearly states, in the legal texts at the beginning that contains the name of the person/company with the rights to the book, that the correct title is Cavern of The Fear, with a capital "T" in "the" that is. The title on the first page is written in the same way, and so is the title seen on the top of every page throughout the novel. I am going to change the title used on this article now. EDIT: But I can't move the page. Could some admin do that for me? Or will someone put in a request for me? I am a bit busy at the moment guys :( Luka1184 (talk) 11:29, 25 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
@Luka1184: I disagree. I have a few of the Deltora books in front of me, and they each have a list of each book in the series in the back. It's "the Fear" in all of them. Nick1372 (talk) 00:45, 26 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
@Nick1372: Well, there's an easy explanation for that. The list of books are not written by the author, but by an editor. However the legal texts is probably also written by an editor, but that just means it may have been a mistake on the editor's side when he/she wrote the list of titles. But please hear me out: The titles inside the individual books and the way the authors write the titles themselves, however, are official in my opinion. Just as a Director's Cut of a movie are most often considered to be the correct version of a film, and how a book restored to its original version after having been censored for many years before being re-published, are most often considered to be the official version of that book. It is Cavern of The Fear according to the author Emily Rodda and her illustrator Marc McBride, there's not question about that. Pick up the book, look at the title page. It says "The Fear" and not "the Fear." Then read the title at the top of each page of the book. It reads "The Fear" and not the "the Fear" - again. Then look at the cover, look further up and read the title. It says "The Fear" and not "the Fear" - again - again. And the creature which the title is refering to is always written as "The Fear" rather than "the Fear" throughout the entire book, and the Cavern mentioned is this creature's lair in the story. So there is really nothing to disagree with. This is fact, not assumption. I say that we change the title back to "The Fear" again. Who agree? Or do you want some proof? I can take a photo of everything I have mentioned if it is necessary. Happy December everyone.
I guess this argument's over. Oh well. --Luka1184 (talk) 11:34, 27 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Look, this thing has been bugging me for some time. I know for a fact that it is 'The Fear'. The official format of the book's title is Cavern of The Fear with a capitalized The. This is due ti the fact that 'The Fear' refers to a monstrous creature in the story. Open the book, it says The Fear on the title page as well as the front cover. --Luka1184 (talk) 21:00, 31 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect

[edit]

The conversation above stems from the fact that the official title of this book is indeed Cavern of The Fear rather than Cavern of the Fear. The reason for this is that the monster the characters encounter in the book is named "The Fear", with a capital "The", and is always referred to as such, with the capitalised "The". I propose that the page should be moved to Cavern of The Fear, and a redirect should be pointed from Cavern of the Fear to Cavern of The Fear, rather than the other way around which is the way it is now. --Luka1184 (talk) 22:41, 9 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
