[edit]I removed the dog info again - it really seems quite a trivial piece of information. I think it could work, but only if it is used to tell the reader about Cox; i.e., "Cox and her husband enjoy spending time with their chocolate lab Jake". As it stands, it is of no more relevance than saying that "Cox owns a BMW". Ataru 06:08, 21 August 2005 (UTC)
- While I dispute that pets are trivial, I concede after research that it is an unwritten Wikipedia convention that pets of politicians are not mentioned in articles, as I am having a hard time finding a counterexample. I also commend you on a great job re-organizing the article. ⇝Casito⇝Talk 07:51, 21 August 2005 (UTC)
Case
[edit]A large portion of this article is dedicated to once case concerning 63 votes. This is more relevant to the fraternity than it is to the life of Cathy Cox. An analagous case would be a steve irwin article would speak about his death by a stingray, but an article about a stingray really mention that one of them had contributed to his death. A is more relavent to B than B is to A. This is a direct copy and paste from the Alpha Phi Alpha article, and was posted by Ccson here "http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Cathy_Cox&diff=61487547&oldid=60413057" Ccson though is a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Ccson" and is listed in the Alpha Phi Alpha talk page as "following users are active in maintaining and improving this article. - The following part of this information is what makes it seem relevant to me for the Secretary of State's page: "A Senior U.S. District Judge upheld earlier federal court decisions in the case, and found that private entities have a right under the NVRA to engage in organized voter registration activity in Georgia at times and locations of their choosing, without the presence or permission of state or local election officials". The precedent, not the number of votes, is the interesting part, and it happened while Cox was in office. My $.02. I will agree that the paragraph needs to be rewritten and slimmed down and the rest of the article lengthened.--Roswell native 06:19, 23 December 2006 (UTC)
i'm going to use your quoted position. 172.193.93.172 10:14, 24 December 2006 (UTC)
2008 Speculation
[edit]I removed the line about Cox possibly challenging Saxby Chambliss in 2008. For one thing, she was not even popular enough with Democrats to get her party's nomination which makes the claims of her overwhelming popularity dubious. Secondly, she has consistently said that she is done with politics. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.19.95.126 (talk) 01:25, 22 March 2007 (UTC).
