The result of the move request was: Speedy moved to Cathelotis, uncontroversial. No such user (talk) 13:30, 24 August 2016 (UTC)
Cathelotis sanidopa → Cathelotis – Per WP:MONOTYPICFAUNA, part of the Naming Conventions (Fauna), monotypic genera should be located at genus level with species name as redirect, rather than the other way around.
Unfortunately, there already is a redirect in place from Cathelotis to Cathelotis sanidopa that has two edits (the creation & the redirect-templating), which makes it impossible for me to simply move the page over the redirect.
The exact relevant passages of the above-linked WP:MONOTYPICFAUNA are
- "In such a case, the ranks with identical member organisms should not be separated into different articles, and the article (if there is no common name) should go under the scientific name of lowest rank, but no lower than the monotypic genus." (emphasis mine)
and, from the examples
- "The genus Nodocephalosaurus has a redirect from its sole species, Nodocephalosaurus kirtlandensis." AddWittyNameHere (talk) 02:01, 22 August 2016 (UTC)
- Support Monotypic genera should be at the genus title. Plantdrew (talk) 15:45, 22 August 2016 (UTC)
