About the origin of the term "categorification"
[edit]I have seen the claim that it was coined my Louis Crane in multiples places. In his paper Categorification, John Baez cites two papers, one by Crane, and one by Crane and Frenkel, as the origins of this the concept and the term. These same two papers are also cited in Crane's and Yetter's paper Examples of Categorification. Eugenia Cheng also attributes the term to Crane in her book The Joy of Abstraction. To me these claims seem very plausible, especially since Crane himself refers to these papers. However, since they are not freely accessible, I am unable to verify them directly myself. I still chose to add these two sources as citations to this claim, but if anyone is able to look at the papers to properly verify them, it would be great. Tommpouce (talk) 09:28, 21 May 2024 (UTC)
