The Himalayan is considered a subcategory of persian by the CFA, but has a different page in wikipedia so i believe it's prudent to add it so to the list. MiS-Saath (talk) 04:40, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
- I placed Himalayan next to Persian in brackets. It is because, in CFA rules (in the website or in CFA cat shows), Himalayan is considered as Persian; and it falls under “Persian” breed category. Refer [1] - When a "Himalayan" wins in overall longhair division for example, usually it will be announced as "Persian" or sometimes the judge will say "Persian Himalayan". Therefore, in CFA page, we cannot have Himalayan listed under “H”. - Jay (talk) 06:51, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
- I Figured people would look under 'H' first, just as i did. but it's fine this way as well. MiS-Saath (talk) 07:11, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
- I understand. When I first joined CFA cat show years back, I do not like the idea of Chinchillas and Himalayans to be under Persian division. It doesn’t look fair but that is how it is. On last April, CFA combined Balinese and Javanese into the same division, for that I just moved Javanese in brackets next to Balinese. The list that I wrote in there is based on the cat Division just as CFA breed list. By the way, I dont fancy Persians tho`, my CFA cats are Maine Coons :) - Jay (talk) 07:49, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
Is it really the biggest
[edit]The article says that CFA is the biggest cat registry but the source (cfa's website) doesn't say that. What's more, the article on TICA says it has the biggest registry. What is the truth then??? 78.131.137.50 (talk) 14:36, 9 November 2009 (UTC)
not all the breeds are listed?
[edit]There are 40 recognized breeds in the CFA, which can be confirmed on their official website (http://www.cfa.org/client/breeds.aspx). Many of which are not mentioned in the article. The CFA breeds are as follows:
Abyssinian American Bobtail American Curl American Shorthair American Wirehair Balinese Birman Bombay British Shorthair Burmese Chartreux Colorpoint Shorthair Cornish Rex Devon Rex Egyptian Mau European Burmese Exotic Havana Brown Japanese Bobtail Korat LaPerm Maine Coon Manx Norwegian Forest Cat Ocicat Oriental Persian RagaMuffin Ragdoll Russian Blue Scottish Fold Selkirk Rex Siamese Siberian Singapura Somali Sphynx Tonkinese Turkish Angora Turkish Van — Preceding unsigned comment added by 428pm (talk • contribs) 02:09, 27 August 2012 (UTC)
