I have searched repeatedly among the surnames listed under D in the Catálogo (thanks to the fact that, despite the document’s name, the surnames are not really alphabetically arranged), and have yet not been able to find Davide among them. However, according to this page here, the Davide surname in the Philippines can be traced back to no earlier than 1849, thus it should originate in the Catálogo. So anyway, could someone help me finally locate the surname in the document? What are the series of surnames that come before and after it? Would really appreciate it.
- I don't see Davide either. I traced it to Al-Andalus putting it in there. --Chris S. 04:25, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
- I checked it and I see a "David." on page 37, 5th column, 23rd surname. It's not exactly "Davide", but it might be a variant of the surname you're looking for.--Mlgc1998 (talk) 11:22, 28 June 2020 (UTC)
Ymbrecht
[edit]Neither have I been able to locate Ymbrecht.
Anyone here here who could tell me where I can find a copy of the list of surnames included in the catalogo?
- Ymbrecht is on page 139. 2nd column. 27th surname. I think. I'm not counting again. Nakakahilo. --Chris S. 04:25, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
- Found it, finally! Thanks.
list?

- There are tons of surnames. It won't fit on a list. I have a copy of the catalog that a friend photocopied for me. --Chris S. 04:25, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
- They’re selling copies at the Philippine National Archives for a hundred bucks.
- Don't they sell this one outside Metro Manila? I tried looking for one, but I couldn't
- Have you tried going to one of the local university campuses? Maybe you could obtain a copy through them. I’m not sure, but I think it’s worth a try.
- Here's a link to an online copy I saw, Catálogo alfabético de apellidos--Mlgc1998 (talk) 11:28, 28 June 2020 (UTC)

- I don't think so. I've removed it. Whoever put it can voice their objections here first. Berserkerz Crit 12:23, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
Basque and Catalan
[edit]I'm quite surprised to see these two origins of surmnames, since I believe they perfectly belong to the spanish section (since they are spanish territories). Concerning the Basque names this is even clearer, as they are all written in their castillian standard orthography, besides, I would swear that peñarredondo is not a specific basque surname. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.172.67.38 (talk) 14:08, 9 January 2013 (UTC) "Peñarredondo" is Spanish language, not Basque, obviously. Legazpi is Basque.--83.37.96.205 (talk) 20:51, 5 February 2015 (UTC)
Hubahib
[edit]Is there anything known about this surname? The Municipality of Bantayan official website seems to say it's a Hispanic family name which originated in Bohol. Is that true? It doesn't sound Hispanic to me. More like Arabian. Unbuttered parsnip (talk) mytime= Fri 14:22, wikitime=
