Key Figures in CHS History
[edit]The list below provides a brief sketch for some of the prominent staff and key contributors to Castleberry ISD.
Joy James - principal of North Castleberry Elementary School for the years 196_ through 199_. This Samson Park school was renamed in his honor in 199_. Dr. James was known for wise counsel and widely respected as an educator, administrator, manager and father. He was also a central figure within the community and church. Among his most memorable presentations were: to play music using a common handsaw, to cause a penny or pencil to wiggle and "bend"; to begin the day with inspirational quotations or reading.
W.O.Barnes - principal of Castleberry High School from 197_ through 198_. The football stadium was re-named in his honor in 198_. A man of uncommon grace and patience, one of his beloved traditions was to welcome each incoming class with the admonision of: "Be careful where you set your goals, for that may be exactly what you'll attain."
Irma Marsh - the first superintendent of CISD, she served as an educator in the district for more than 50 years. The middle school was named in her honor in 195_. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jdcurrie (talk • contribs) 03:53, 1 March 2009 (UTC)
