Dubious source

Footnote 39 refers to 21stcenturywire.com, which is mostly a hotbed of conspiracy theorists and barely disguised anti-Semitism. Should this be considered a source so dubious that the paragraph needs to be removed?--Kurt von Hammerstein (talk) 15:54, 19 September 2016 (UTC)

Shorthand article

Casting couch is such an important subject of great impact as many witnesses come out. Yet we now treat it at Wikipedia as some short hand assignment given to a secretary with 5 minutes to spare and then closed the subject to any further development. I know we have to assume good faith, but this page gives the impression there is intent to conceal a huge phenomenon in the least coverage possible. The article reads just like some clinical dictionary entry, with no detail whatsoever. We can certainly do better in Wikipedia than this lukewarm diluted down insufficient and grossly understated article of practically no use to the reader. Yet on average, 1000 readers visit the page daily without finding anything of substance. Of course the readers are given tonnes of materials outside Wikipedia to read... as if saying we have no additional content to offer, so go elsewhere please if you really need to learn something about this subject. Upon reading your words, I went to the history section of the article and was quite shocked to discover that the vast majority of the content was deleted by a single user that is now blocked from editing. I do not see serious BLP issues there; this information is important and well sourced and I therefore propose its reinstatement back into the article. You seem to be correct.

With that being said, and in consideration of the above nov. 2017 discussion, a quick but careful examination of all the erased examples should be made. Shalom11111 (talk) 19:38, 4 March 2018 (UTC)

I have just retrieved some content, and the article now abides by a strict set of editorial policies in order to avoid WP:BLP issues. I went over each one of the incidents from the above-mentioned version, and the following were excluded: 1) All accusations coming from autobiographies, personal blogs, etc. 2) Allegations/remarks about the subject that were not covered by secondary, reliable sources 3) Allegations/remarks where the term "casting couch" wasn't explicitly used in the description of the event/story (which is importnat as the article now differentiates itself from pages such as the 'Weinstein Effect' or the 'Me Too movement' (see previous talk page discussions) 5) Incidents that did end in a legal conviction or a clear admission by the accused party (and very few such examples were left. Most of the content doesn't point at specific accused individuals but rather discusses the phenomenon).

This was done, of course, in light of the consensus by all editors regarding the importance of the information, which is an integral part of the subject.
