Duplication

[edit]

This page has a lot of duplication from the CRISPR page (therefore delete from here), and some material that would be better to mainly be on the CRISPR page e.g. transcription. I intend to start this soon.

Misc

[edit]

Cas9 should probably have its own page, given how many papers are being published using the protein outside of its original context in the CRISPR system. Any objections?

Add the mass of the commonly used enzyme. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.61.20.43 (talk) 21:24, 16 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Cleavage

[edit]

This is recent science, and apparently written by those in the know, for those nearly in the know. At any rate it uses WP:JARGON, such as "cleave" not defined or explored in linked explanatory articles. If those more basic articles do not yet exist and will not soon be written, then this and other terms ought at least be briefly defined at an early appearance in this article. The word cleaved does not need explanation. It means cutting, splitting, chopping and is a perfectly common word. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.60.168.5 (talk) 13:37, 19 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Diagram

[edit]

The "CRISPR-Cas defense stages" section refers to a diagram which is different to the one used (cf: "black diamonds", "white line dividing the cell"). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.134.78.155 (talk) 22:54, 22 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Occurence of Cas9

[edit]

I have a source listing at least 3 other bacteria using Cas9 (https://www.nature.com/articles/s41579-019-0299-x/figures/2 from https://www.nature.com/articles/s41579-019-0299-x), but since only so many bacteria have been sequenced yet, there are likely many more. I think this should be addressed. Sparkle666 (talk) 19:02, 1 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Is using the graphical abstract image from [1] a copyright violation? It's a freely viewable open archive article, but not open access with the journal retaining copyright. ― Synpath 23:03, 9 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I swapped the image with a diagram I made that highlights the NUC+REC lobes and sgRNA:DNA duplex. ― Synpath 01:18, 22 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
