Freedom of Speech

Wow. This is the second kid this year to be suspended (pending expulsion) from Carroll High School do to negative commentary about the administration. My question is this: How many kids need to be suspended before the administration takes a piece of humble pie and says "Hey, maybe there is a little room for improvement." I don't know the GPAs or the class rank of the kids who were suspended (both being seniors), but I know I'm the 3rd or 4th student to openly complain. Not because I want to cause trouble, but because I want to cause change. I love school and I love learning. I'm an Honors student that will be graduating with an Academic Honors Diploma. I take two foreign languages, honors english, and AP Government. I have a job and I take voice lessons. I'm going far in life. I know that when I'm successful and look back at my high school years, I'll be even more happy where I'm at just knowing that I'm no longer at Carroll High School. Certain teachers there are more worried about how convenient their job is rather than if their students are learning or not. Perfect example: Any teacher that has a syllabus stating "NO LATE HOMEWORK FOR ANY REASON. NO EXCEPTIONS." This is the statement of a lazy teacher who doesn't want to deal with the "inconveniences" of grading these papers and recording them separately. "So what if they were sick! So what if they were vomiting! So what if they had a temperature of 104! So what if their baby niece was in the hospital! So what! School is ALL ABOUT ME AND I DON'T CARE ABOUT THE STUDENTS; IT'S WHAT'S EASIEST FOR ME" This is what their syllabi should really say. A teacher should be thrilled if their students are learning, even if they're learning in a different way. Carroll teachers want you to learn THEIR way and no if, ands, or buts about it. Do you know why? BECAUSE IT'S ALL ABOUT WHAT'S EASIEST FOR THEM! "So what if you know how to solve out a math problem that way. I want you to do it this way because it's easier for me to grade it!" It's all about the teachers and what's easiest for the administration. I'm not saying that all of the teachers at Carroll are like this but some of them are. I dub CARROLL HIGH SCHOOL the "SO WHAT" school. Oh, and don't bother trying to figure out who wrote this... I'll tell you myself. I'm not afraid to take a stand for what's right. My name is ALEXANDRIA FOSTER. I say it loud and proud.

  • What is this, your own personal blog? This is an encyclopedia, wage your war with the school's admin somewhere else. Aplomado - UTC 01:37, 12 April 2006 (UTC)

Alex is completely right, Carroll's administration, as good people as they are, have indeed crossed the line. Liberties of American citizens are being threatened. And yeah, so what, they're just high school kids, they can't do anything anyway. This is true, but, these "kids" are soon going to be voting-age citizens and what value will they have for a republic and their God given rights if they have been forced to spend four years of their lives in an oppressive, authoritarian environment with virtually no representation? The fact is that Carroll High School, if current trends persist, will only be aiding in the decline of the once great American Republic. And to Aplomado, sorry to insult your prestigous Wikipedia. Long live Freedom of Speech!

Are you Offended?

Do you want to know the most hilarious thing about this whole ordeal? The students from Carroll who were suspended did a bit of name calling, ie calling Mrs. Neumeyer a "bitch" and a "slut" and calling Mr. Ginder names also. After Ginder and Neumeyer found out I'm pretty sure they were a bit upset and hurt about it. What was their solution? KICK THEM OUT! Here's what's funny about that. My whole freshman, sophomore, and part of Junior year I was harrassed every single day by these three in particular girls. They would yell things like "bitch", "anorexic", and "oreo" when I would walk by. I had done nothing to these girls and they knew it. They were just being ignorant. I told the administration about it because I was on the verge of knocking one of them out. I care about my grades and I didn't want to be suspended or expelled so I told in hopes that they would take care of it. Do you know what they told me? "STICKS AND STONES! JUST IGNORE IT!" Hmmmm.... but when they're called out of THEIR name a kid gets f***ing EXPELLED?!!! So what this is saying to me is, "Alex, I know that we were both called out of our names, but we as the administration are more important than you and you don't have any feelings anyway...so you just deal with it and if it happens to us, we get to kick someone out." THE ADMINISTRATION THINKS THAT OUR FEELINGS...OUR NATURAL HUMAN FEELINGS, ARE INFERIOR TO THEIRS! ARE YOU OFFENDED BY THAT?

Stop continuing to add the extremely biased additions to this article....

...they will be reverted quickly every time they are added, and users who continue to post it will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. One already has been.

Please note the following edits:

"the school became the "laughing-stock of the free world"." -- This is not sourced. If you could provide a reliable source for this, then possibly we could include a section noting this. Otherwise, it's out of the question.

"Principal Deb Neumeyer(satan's slut) and her assistants Sam DiPrimio and Park Ginder (cockbag), were at the helm of this scandal." -- Besides the derogatory names (which I'll trust are someone else's vandalism), you basically assert that they were "at the helm of this scandal." If that were printed in any newspaper, they would be sued for libel. It doesn't matter if you believe it's true with all your heart, you can't make accusations like that, and while Wikipedia probably won't face any lawsuit over it, it's still unacceptable for an online and neutral encyclopedia. You people need to understand that.

"The situation will go down in the books as a lesson learned, a huge mistake that cost a school its reputation and respect." -- Who are you, Nostradamus? How do you know? This is speculation.

"Furthermore, accusations have recently arisen that one of the aforementioned administration members is wont to patrol popular internet sites such as MySpace - which are frequented by Carroll High students - in search of derogatory material directed toward the school and or the administration itself." -- According to who? Again, this is an unsourced accusation. See: WP:RS.

"The school also states that students do not have rights in the school, though the Supreme Court in cases such as Tinker 393 US 503 says differently." -- Again, according to who? Do you have an administrator on record explicitly saying, "Students do not have rights in this school"? Somehow I doubt it. See: WP:RS.

"In the aftermath of said scandal, the Carroll High administration has been thrown into a state which is altogether Orwellian in nature; nothing negative may be directed toward the administration on school grounds, or as is seemingly apparent, off school grounds either. ... A true "Big Brother" situation indeed - a sentiment which is both frightening and altogether given birth in reality itself." -- Is anyone seriously going to tell me that this is an unbiased statement? You are not quoting a source here who is raising a question of whether the school is in a "Big Brother" situation, you simple declare such a thing to be the case. Unacceptable.

Use of Allen County Public Library computers to harass people or vandalize Wikipedia is against their user policy

After talking to the main branch of the Allen County Public Library, we do have options to stop your vandalism. Do you want us to call the Dupont Branch] of the library, where this vandal's April 15 edit originated? We may be forced to ask them to be on the lookout for teenagers using their computer equipment to harass others (this includes vandalizing wikipedia). If you are banned from using library facilities because of this behavior, or if they contact local law enforcement for this behavior (which is illegal in Indiana), then your problems may be larger than merely figuring out how to access computers in order to push your agenda. Not to mention how your parent's would react to police knocking on their door because of your actions. - Davodd 18:35, 15 April 2006 (UTC)

just a thought....

All I have to say is, if carroll's administrators are spending time searching around LOOKING for negative things people are saying about them, then there really IS something wrong with this school!! (I hope they read this.)

2005 Termination Scandal

Someone put this in the article: "In 2005, english teacher J'Nelle Hamilton was recomended for contract termination because of what was alleged to be insabordination. Both administrators at the high school and at the freshman campus recomended this course of action. The school board took their comments into consideration but reinstated her. Hamilton still teaches english at the freshman campus."

I'm not against including it since a Google search seems to indicate that this really did happen. Unfortunately, those links don't work. We need more details surrounding this "scandal" in order for it to be included. Simply saying the administration accused her of "insubordination" without saying why isn't good enough.

Can anyone point me to a source? Aplomado - UTC 21:40, 18 April 2006 (UTC)

Neutral POV

Whoever keeps putting "because the student was too disruptive" is violating the POV rules. This is not the truth and never was. Statements like this need factual backing, and considering the school never did, and never was allowed to, comment, we will never know. As far as I'm concerned, the school disrupted itself by stirring up things and causing a national media riot for itself.
