The result of the move request was: Moved with decent support in late comments as proposed (non-admin closure) — Andy W. (talk) 03:48, 10 November 2016 (UTC)
Carnatic rāga → Carnatic raga – The article Raga is not spelt with an "ā", and we have to maintain consistency. Kailash29792 (talk) 08:15, 27 October 2016 (UTC)
- Oppose the parent article covers a broader area, in relation to carnatic music the long a is distinguished to help pronunciation in quality English sources. In ictu oculi (talk) 11:21, 27 October 2016 (UTC)
- Comment: If that is so, then this should be renamed "Carnatic raaga", based on the pronunciation. Because "ā" is not found on every keyboard. Kailash29792 (talk) 13:42, 27 October 2016 (UTC)
- Support WP:USEENGLISH. Raga is not spelt with an ā in English (https://en.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/raga). Redtigerxyz Talk 17:44, 1 November 2016 (UTC)
- Support. Raga is an established term in English, without the ā. That's enough reason for the move on its own, but in addition, standard English phonology gives us the long "a" sound on the first syllable anyway, caused by assimilation to the voiced consonants surrounding it (similarly Mabo). The diacritic is redundant. Andrewa (talk) 11:55, 5 November 2016 (UTC)
