The result of the move request was: All moved — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 20:18, 23 May 2019 (UTC)
- Carlos Sánchez Moreno → Carlos Sánchez (Colombian footballer)
- Carlos Sánchez García → Carlos Sánchez (Spanish footballer)
- Carlos Alberto Sánchez Romero → Carlos Sánchez (Mexican footballer)
- Carlos Andrés Sánchez → Carlos Sánchez (Uruguyan footballer)
- Carlos Alfredo Sánchez → Carlos Sánchez (Honduran footballer)
– Not WP:COMMONNAME. From the sources used in these articles, none of them are referred to by their full names (Moreno, García etc.). Anyone who searches for any one of these famous people (e.g. a West Ham fan) is unlikely to know what their full names are in the Spanish custom rule. Iggy (Swan) 20:22, 13 May 2019 (UTC)
- Support per nomination. It is surprising that the forms with parenthetical qualifiers which specify the national identities of these footballers have continued to remain as redlinks. Two months ago, a nomination which contained similar elements was discussed at Talk:João Mário (Portuguese footballer)#Requested move 8 March 2019. —Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 21:38, 13 May 2019 (UTC)
- Support as above. As they are, a detailed knowledge of the players is required just to do a search for them.--Egghead06 (talk) 05:07, 14 May 2019 (UTC)
- Comment: I support the move request, but please note that the country is called Colombia, not Columbia, and the first footballer should be moved to Carlos Sánchez (Colombian footballer) – there is already a redirect in place from this very name. Richard3120 (talk) 15:01, 14 May 2019 (UTC)
- Reply: Ah yes, I made an error there with the spelling. I got that confused with the Canadian province. Iggy (Swan) 17:36, 14 May 2019 (UTC)
- It's a common mistake, don't worry about it :-) - just thought I should point it out before the RM was closed and the move made. Richard3120 (talk) 19:24, 14 May 2019 (UTC)

- Oppose - nationality is fluid. Using full name for Spanish-language footballers is acceptable, using year of birth is better. GiantSnowman 11:36, 20 May 2019 (UTC)
- Shouldn't we go by WP:COMMONNAME, though, where the second surname is rarely used in news articles and everyday speech in Spanish-speaking countries? Richard3120 (talk) 15:03, 20 May 2019 (UTC)

- Carlos Sánchez (Colombian footballer) → Carlos Sánchez (footballer, born 1986)
- Carlos Sánchez (Mexican footballer) → Carlos Sánchez (footballer, born 1980)
- Carlos Sánchez (Uruguayan footballer) → Carlos Sánchez (footballer, born 1984)
- Carlos Sánchez (Honduran footballer) → Carlos Sánchez (footballer, born 1990)
– I think there should now be some consistency in naming all these Carlos Sánchez's on Wikipedia now there are two of them who are Spanish, hence one of them was retitled due to incomplete dab. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 21:55, 6 April 2023 (UTC)
