Surname
[edit]Both Gomes and Jesus is Carlos Alberto surname in although he just commonly know as Carlos Alberto. Unless Gomes is from father and/or the player like to refer as Mr. Gomes, the common way to sort Portuguese people is by the last surname. Matthew hk (talk) 00:01, 12 July 2009 (UTC)
- Have to explain my 10 y/o comment. Wikipedia now use WP:commonname, since "Carlos Alberto" is the most commonly known name, it should sort under "Carlos Alberto", while the preferred surname, it is debatable but wikipedia should acted as a summary of usage in external source. Some source use "Carlos Alberto Gomes" but not overwhelming. Matthew hk (talk) 11:42, 27 June 2019 (UTC)

Carlos Alberto de Jesus → Carlos Alberto (footballer, born 1984) – WP:Common name and standardize disambiguator. Also, secondary source conflicted to use the surnames "Gomes" or "de Jesus" as the natural disambiguator. Such as AS use Gomes. And yes Carlos Alberto Tevez is born in 1984 but commonly known as Carlos Tevez Matthew hk (talk) 11:38, 27 June 2019 (UTC)
