Coming out

[edit]

This article contains the sentence "Alvarez came out early for John McCain.". In what? Primaries for something or other? Without further explanation this sentence seems out of tune. --Stalfur 14:12, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I removed it as an uncited claim. Anyone with a citation feel free to add information on the subjects endorsements.--Jersey Devil 12:00, 15 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Political Party?

[edit]

Shouldn't his politicial party be listed? Seems pretty standard for political figures in Wikipedia. Agrippina Minor (talk) 20:07, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, and someone did add that today, calling him a Republican, and citing a Chrsitian Science News article.

However I replaced this seemingly incorrect information with the correct factual information that he held his most recent office after running as "No Party Preference". Until someone provides some compelling source that shows he is a Republican I don't think we should make that claim here.

I believe we must give much more weight to official state documents which are available than passing references made by writers rushing to meet deadlines.

The biography on Lieberman has several paragraphs on his changing party affiliation, which he lists himself as "Independent Democrat". I am unaware of Alvarez doing any such thing in any forum -- ie: describing himself as an independent Republican.

There is the interesting case of non-Partisan offices, like Mayor, which this maybe? I suppose one could run for a non-partisan job with such a history of partisan politics that it's obvious what you are, despite having no affiliation on the ticket. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.21.40.184 (talk) 21:21, 17 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Removing a paragraph

[edit]

This:

"Citizens were so unhappy with this decision, in difficult economic times, that the Miami-Dade County website was overloaded for several hours as individuals attempted to contact the Mayor's office to express their displeasure."

is hardly encyclopedic, for a number of obvious reasons. C'mon, we can do better than a 2-hour server overload. "Were so unhappy" and "difficult economic times" are subjective and barbarically articulated, and the link has nothing to do with an insignificant server crash. In fact, the entire paragraph is biased, speculative, non-specific, petty and jejune. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.18.19.169 (talk) 18:53, 25 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
