Did he ever show remorse?
[edit]Well 199.117.69.8 (talk) 02:16, 17 December 2009 (UTC)
- There needs to be a lot more energy put towards the Champan-Mays incident. I'm not sure into which article the bulk of it would be most appropriate, but there is really little of it anywhere despite being such an important piece of baseball history.
- To answer your question, in summary, not really. To quote Twin Peaks, "He was a bit lacking in social niceties." Fractalchez (talk) 20:54, 9 January 2010 (UTC)
Chapman 2nd major leaguer to die from on-field injury?
[edit]Neither of the references listed after that factoid mentions the other. I can't remember who it was---I read about it once, I think. I think it was someone who crashed into an outfield wall and died maybe the next day. Can anyone help me out here?
Also, I'm not sure we can fault Mays for not "showing remorse." In his mind, it was an accident, plain and simple, and he seemed to be quite sorry it had happened. The lack of an outright apology needn't be made a fuss of. (Still, it would've been better if he had said something, but I guess that just wasn't Carl Mays.)
And finally, I agree with the previous discusser that the Mays-Chapman incident needs to be given more extensive treatment on here.174.101.118.72 (talk) 14:59, 21 June 2010 (UTC)Matt
---if you read the Ray Chapman page, it details that he is one of two MLB players to die from on-field injuries. this page should be updated to reflect that info, but i don't know how to do that. - neil ---
