Merge with Hard water
[edit]I suggest that both Carbonate alkalinity and Carbonate hardness be merged with Hard water. Biscuittin (talk) 22:03, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
- Oppose - The two concepts are related, but not the same. Kat (talk) 08:28, 3 September 2011 (UTC)
Merge with Carbonate hardness
[edit]I'm not sure who's idea it was to have this separate from Carbonate hardness, but they should absolutely be merged. 96.253.89.224 (talk) 03:09, 13 March 2011 (UTC)
- I agree that this should be merged with Carbonate Hardness. I disagree about merging this with "Hard Water", as the two concepts are related but not the same, and the Hard Water article is already long. "Hard Water" should link to the merged Carbonate Hardness/Alkalinity article for the technical details regarding KH. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.89.87.95 (talk) 13:18, 12 April 2011 (UTC)
- Support - Significant overlap. Kat (talk) 08:27, 3 September 2011 (UTC)
- Support - It would make for a longer article. Rainbow Shifter (talk) 18:49, 29 January 2013 (UTC)

Carbonate Alkalinity should not have been merged with Carbonate Hardness. Carbonate Hardness is a measure of the calcium or other alkali metals minerals that can combine with carbonate ions in water. Carbonate alkalinity is a measure of the carbonate and bicarbonate ions in water. Carbonate Alkalinity should be redirected to Alkalinity and discussed there. I propose to make those changes unless I hear otherwise A B McDonald (talk) 19:10, 7 November 2017 (UTC)
