Proposed merge of Punch buggy into Car-spotting game
[edit]The car-spotting game article was intended as an uncontroversial merge of punch buggy, padiddle and the "car tag" section from car games. The punch buggy article has been restored, so I've opened a formal merge discussion.
Per Talk:Punch_buggy#Merging_with_padiddle/car_game?, should these various games be merged into a single article about the genre of car games where car passengers look around for a type of car (VW Beetle, missing light, yellow car) and score a point and/or punch a fellow passenger, or are one or all of these better as standalone articles? - Merge. These games are not sufficiently different to warrant two articles (or more than two). However I have to say, I am having second thoughts about the target article. Ultimately, "Car-spotting game" is independent research/synthesis. Unless I am mistaken, there are not third party sources which use the term, and it's just our way of simplifying things. I think my ideal solution would be merging the content of one article (punch buggy or padiddle) into the other, and just having a "similar games" section. My preference is merging all content into Punch buggy with appropriate sections as warranted, but that's just my opinion. ‡ El cid, el campeador talk 14:42, 8 September 2022 (UTC)
- You're right, "car-spotting game" is an invented umbrella term. The car game article calls them "car tag" games, but I wasn't able to find any sources to back that up. At Talk:Punch_buggy#Merging_with_padiddle/car_game?, User:Plantdrew felt that it would be misleading to lump several specific games under one of those game's titles, which I'd agree with. I think "car-spotting game" is acceptable under WP:NDESC in the absence of any actual name for the genre. --Lord Belbury (talk) 15:14, 8 September 2022 (UTC)
- Merger complete. Klbrain (talk) 09:05, 22 April 2023 (UTC)

When these games originated
[edit]In an effort to be more properly encyclopedic, shouldn't we mention when games like punch buggy or padiddle originated? 98.123.38.211 (talk) 03:42, 28 December 2023 (UTC)
