Matt Rippey
[edit]On the repeat of this episode, The Captain is definitely credited as Matt Rippy. Was it amended, or is the person who added information of the error mistaken? U-Mos 16:14, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
- Just checked my self and he was credited as "Matt Rippy" thanks/Fenton, Matthew Lexic Dark 52278 Alpha 771 16:18, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

Number of Jack's
[edit]I have removed he following sentence from the article:
"*It would seem there could be as many as FOUR Jack Harknesses on Earth (and somewhere on the British Isles) on this day, 20 January 1941: (1) the real Jack Harkness; (2) the 2007 Jack Harkness who has gone back in time from 'present day' with Tosh; (3) the ex-Time Agent who assumes the dead Harkness's identity, and who will meet and join the Doctor and Rose (in the Doctor Who episode The Empty Child); (4) the Jack Harkness who has been living on Earth since coming to the planet following the events of the Doctor Who episode The Parting of the Ways, prior to his joining Torchwood!"
On the basis that;
a) It's Original Reasearch
b) Number Three Jack is not due on earth for another year, according to Everything Changes, and Number Four is not is not guaranteed to be correct- we don't know when Jack comes back.
However, I'm willing to discuss/argue someone who whats it to be in. Anyone want to, I'm right here. Ozoo 20:12, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
- Well, Utopia confirms the fourth, but this really doesn't belong here, since only 2007's Jack and the Real Jack matter to the episode, and the events of this episode don't affect the other two Jacks at all, since they'd both be younger versions of the 2007 Jack.Steffan Alun 13:38, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
- According to the page for The Empty Child, the first time Captain Jack meets the doctor is on 21 January 1941, and this episode takes place on 20 January 1941. Saying that Captain Jack had been present in London on the 20th January 1941 in The Empy Child, while plausible and probably true, I'm fairly certain is OR.
- Also, we know there's a fifth Jack, sitting in the Torchwood morgue, cryogenically frozen because of Exit Wounds. -- 66.167.244.240 (talk) 19:46, 26 September 2010 (UTC)
Two Images?
[edit]I thought we were keeping to one screenshot per episodel. I suggesting we get rid of the second one which is very nice but also very spoilery. --GracieLizzie 21:47, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
- We are not limited to one image, we are limited to a "limited number" - each image would have to provide critical commentary within the text, in the interests of uniformity (one per page) I'd support the removal of image #2. thanks/Fenton, Matthew Lexic Dark 52278 Alpha 771 21:52, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
- That's why I said "we were keeping to one", as all the other episodes have one - as is suggested by WP:WHO's episode style guidelines - and personally I think it is tidier that way myself. --GracieLizzie 22:00, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
Ritz dancehall
[edit]IIRC in the Hub Owen or Ianto refer to The Ritz dancehall", contrary to the correction someon made. Rich Farmbrough, 11:02 7 January 2007 (GMT).
- P.S. Billis Manger is an anagram of "Blair Mingles". Coincidence? I think not! Rich Farmbrough, 11:04 7 January 2007 (GMT).
- Or possibly "Bill's a minger" ? Tim! 11:14, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
- But doesn't "Bilis" have only one l? PaulHammond 13:46, 27 January 2007 (UTC)
The worst enemy
[edit]Who is Jack (our Jack) referring to about when he was a "boy"?
- Please sign your posts. Could be anyone. They might return to the subject in the future (maybe there'll be another spin-off about Jack's early years, hehe). Chronolegion 13:55, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
Turned out to be foreshadowing Gray in season 2. Digifiend (talk) 10:56, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
@ Digifiend: Not necessarily, because there is no reference in this ep to when "our" Jack was a boy. The story he tells to "real" Jack in this ep is from when he already an adult and a member of an army, possibly the Time Agents (he mentions helping to recruit the best friend who was then tortured to death by the enemy). The backstory from "Adam" takes place when Jack definitely was a boy, not an adult. There's nothing to definitely establish that this is the same enemy, although it doesn't definitely establish that it isn't either. It's a bit of a leap either way, since Jack is a man whose best friend is killed in one story, and a boy whose brother goes missing in the other. Could be two entirely unrelated incidents. Heroes Easter Egg!

This page is a viral site for the Company from Heroes, showing people with abilities that they have found... If you click on Cardiff, one of the names is Captain Jack Harkness! :) —Preceding unsigned comment added by JaffaCakeLover (talk • contribs) 18:20, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
Was Robert Hands in this?
[edit]According to IMDB Robert Hands reprised his role of Algy from The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances in this episode. I certainly don't remember this, is it an error or did I miss a brief glimpse of him or something? --GracieLizzie 00:55, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
Captain JAck meets him self
[edit]Does anyone else think that the Captain Jack that captain jack meets Was actually himself (I seem to remeber when he left the doctor he was dropped of some time along time in the past).Even though he explained that he stole his identity - he was lying to conceal his imortality form Tosh. ANd the reason he was worried about his death was that he couldn't continue with that life he'd lead as everyone knew he was dead (even though he came back). I don't know if this is in any way correct, it's been awhile since i watch that Dr Who episode where he is dropped of in the past, I might be confusing it with anouther one, maybe the doctor was dopped off in the past and had to live though 50 years before the tardis entered the planet again... -Oxinabox (talk) 00:49, 6 November 2008 (UTC)
- According to Utopia, he was left behind in the year 200100 and used his wriststrap to jump back in time, overjumping to the 1800s. In fragments, it shows he was recruited to Torchwood early on, so would have been able to avoid his conman 1941 self, as he was in London and the current Jack in Cardiff. --Old Marcus (talk) 08:48, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
Plot Summary is Wrong
[edit]- “Jack manages to talk to Captain Harkness, and learns that the officer is attracted to him, though such demonstration in that setting and during those years, is socially unacceptable. The two talk more, Jack asking if the Captain would like to go elsewhere, but he refuses, acknowledging that Jack has obliquely told him that his remaining time on Earth is limited”.
1. Fake Jack does not learn the real Jack is attracted to him until after they go down into the cellar/bomb shelter. The conversation where the fake Jack hints at the real Jack that he may not be around after tomorrow is way before, when they are still up in the ballroom.
2. The fake Jack never asked the real Jack not go to the training exercise that kills him the next day Pearl2525 (talk) 15:15, 24 May 2012 (UTC)
remove {{notability}}
[edit]Most of other Torchwood episodes haven't got this template. This episode is even more popular (nominated for the 2008 Hugo Award for Best Dramatic Presentation, Short Form), so shouldn't get this template, too.--王小朋友 (talk) 08:42, 5 August 2012 (UTC)
