The First Avenger: Captain America

[edit]

There's got to be more info on this movie out there somewhere. Anyone know where to get it?--24.18.230.39 (talk) 21:32, 14 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

More in the LA Times if anyone wants it [1]. (Emperor (talk) 14:51, 7 February 2010 (UTC))[reply]
[[2]] Captain America to begin shooting 28 June 2010 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.164.49.169 (talk) 06:49, 13 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

hey, fellow marvel historians, i think we should add to the cap movie article that his shield appeared in iron man 2, i mean jesus, it#s just like thors hammer at the end of the movie and the hulks destruction being shown onscreen on tv in the last conversation between stark and fury. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.44.230.205 (talk) 20:49, 9 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

That info is already presented at Captain America in other media#Iron Man 2. The focus of The First Avenger: Captain America should and always remain, The First Avenger: Captain America. --TriiipleThreat (talk) 21:07, 9 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Iron Man

[edit]

Caps shield (WW2 version?) is seen in Starks lab in the new Iron Man film.

-G —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.24.150.247 (talk) 21:37, 16 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sure Marvel will clear up why his shield was in Tony's lab. But it is a valid reference to further the inevitability of a Captain America/Avengers movie. (UTC)Lessthancurt —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lessthancurt (talkcontribs)

Captain America Film 1990 correction

[edit]

I have removed the "direct to video" comment from the film's description, since it came out in theaters before ever being put on video tape. 70.108.123.101 (talk) 21:32, 16 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Did it really come out in theaters? I remember seeing a preview, but I believe that the studio changed their minds about releasing it!--24.18.230.39 (talk) 21:30, 14 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It is my understanding that it did play in cinemas, but only outside the US, its country of origin. It was intended for theaters here, but went direct-to-video instead, so does the comment belong or not? --Ted Watson (talk) 21:54, 14 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Article for TV movies?

[edit]

I think, and submit, that the two late 70s made-for-TV movies probably deserve their own article. By that I mean one article covering both, with a pair of infoboxes. As part of the same development deal, Doctor Strange didn't go beyond one feature/pilot, which has its own article, so why not this pair? Anybody else? --Ted Watson (talk) 22:11, 6 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

C-Class rated for Comics Project

"Liberal Ideology"

[edit]

From the Development section of the 2011 movie: "This quote once again proves the unapologetic bias of Hollywood towards liberal ideology."

I removed this line since it's a statement of opinion which is neither relevant nor needed in this article. 66.142.233.238 (talk) 01:50, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Moving TFA:Captain America to its own page

[edit]

As the producers are down to the final four or five candidates for Steve Rogers/Captain America and Hugo Weaving is in final talks to play Red Skull[3], as well as having a more-or-less set in stone release date, etc, I've moved TFA: Captain America to its own page. --WTRiker (talk) 05:38, 12 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

And I've moved it back, again. The Wikipedia rules on future films are very clear. Until principle photography begins, it doesn't get its own page. Planewalker Dave (talk) 07:05, 12 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
My bad. Didn't know. Sorry. Also, for future reference, how do "override", for lack of a better term, the circularity caused by, for example, trying to move TFA:CA to its own page of the same name, when that page redirects to "C.A. in other media"? --WTRiker (talk) 01:01, 13 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sandbox for Captain America movie

[edit]

Here is the user draft for Captain America movie for when it is ready. Feel free to edit or even fix it if you like. Thank you. Jhenderson777 (talk) 15:54, 11 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"Official costume"

[edit]

The claim about the "official costume" is from an unbylined article from a non-mainstream online publication that does not give any indication where the images ostensibly originated. Given the large number of fan images that have circulated, and the propensity for hoaxes in fan communities, this in no way can be considered a reliable source. It may well prove to be correct later on. For now, this lack of provenance and the uncertain source make this claim suspect. --Tenebrae (talk) 22:36, 9 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Captain America references in media

[edit]

In the reference section, while all other entries are indeed references to Captain America himself or showing his gear, the following two entries are actually not references but either archive footage or cameos. These should be moved to the Captain America in other media#Marvel Studios section as it clearly belongs there more as the actor/character actually appear on screen and not only talked about. --Gonnym (talk) 10:27, 10 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • The 2013 Marvel One-Shot short film Agent Carter features the exploits of Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) one year after the events of Captain America: The First Avenger, and features a flashback of Carter's final communication with Steve Rogers (Chris Evans).
  • In the 2013 film Thor: The Dark World, Chris Evans makes an uncredited cameo appearance as Loki masquerading as Captain America.

(MCU) Rogers no longer Captain America

[edit]

I'll come back after I find a reference. The Russo Brothers, the directors of Civil War, have said that Steve is no longer Captain America after he dropped the shield at the end of the battle with Stark. Should we put this here? Batman3095 (talk) 22:26, 26 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Captain America (the band)

[edit]

In the early 1990s, Eugene Kelly of The Vaselines formed a new band which he called Captain America. Marvel Comics threatened a lawsuit over Kelly's violation of their trademark and he changed the band's name to Eugenius.

Hence, we have

  • who then started a new band which caused a notable action, the threat of a lawsuit, which caused the band to change its name. Said band then itself became notable under its new name Eugenius
  • This was reported contemporaneously in the Los Angeles Times in 1992.
Sprague, David (June 14, 1992). "The Name Game: Don't hold your breath..." Los Angeles Times. Archived from the original on August 23, 2019. The band has been calling itself Captain America, but Marvel Comics, which has published the comic of the same name since 1941, says no go. {{cite web}}: Unknown parameter |deadurl= ignored (|url-status= suggested) (help)
  • It was noted in The Trouser Press Guide to 90's Rock: The All-New Fifth Edition of the Trouser Press Record Guide, a major guide to rock music of the decade in 1997.
Robbins, Ira A. (1997). The Trouser Press Guide to 90's Rock: The All-New Fifth Edition of the Trouser Press Record Guide. New York, New York: Fireside. p. 244. ISBN 978-0684814377. After the Vaselines, [Eugene] Kelly formed Captain America, which, following two ace singles, abandoned its moniker under threat of legal action from Marvel Comics and adopted his nickname, Eugenius, instead.

This was not some teenager living in his parents' basement who triggered Marvel Comics' legal department. It was a musician who is notable enough to be the subject of *three* Wikipedia articles (his own plus the two bands). Therefore, it is worth noting on this article as well.

Finally, while tracking down these references, I found a photo of Kurt Cobain of Nirvana wearing one of the band's t-shirts which greatly amused me as both a fan of comics and alternative rock
