[edit]The 'official' version has a great deal of statistical support. The Viscount was designed to be stall resistant by making the horizontal stabilizer designed to stall before the wing - causing a pitch down. A number of other Viscount accidents were attributed to horizontal stabilizer icing causing a pitch down.
The aircraft impacted in an attitude consistent with this and not in one caused by an accelerated stall which would have manifested itself as a roll rate before impact.
Hull's crash was the first CAB accident report I ever read at the age of 8. I think the line suggesting that the accident was caused by a descending turn be amended as the 'official' cause fits the circumstances. Mark Lincoln (talk) 00:06, 2 February 2010 (UTC)
- Several Viscount accidents were due to the crews not turning on the anti-icing in conditions that required it, and in wrongly delaying engine re-starting as-per airline check lists that incorrectly advised a maximum height for re-starting, when the Dart engines could in fact be successfully re-started at any height. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.150.18.158 (talk) 11:19, 26 November 2016 (UTC)
