Not a subway

[edit]

Wait, why is this categorized as a subway? This was a suburban/rural rail line with several miles between stops. It may have had some short underground sections (though I don't think so), but this is not in any way an underground transit system. Triangular (talk) 17:33, 16 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. (Since fixed.) -- Beland (talk) 22:32, 10 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Article name

[edit]

Shouldn't this be at the original title, Cape Cod and Hyannis Railroad? Normally ampersands aren't used in article titles. Mackensen (talk) 20:45, 30 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Route map

[edit]

The route map seems to be experiencing some spacing problems, leading to gaps in the main line. It looks like "mi" is being word-wrapped onto a second line for each distance with 10 or more miles, and the extra line is breaking things. -- Beland (talk) 22:34, 10 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

increased the box width, which works for me, but every browser is different (ymmv). Frietjes (talk) 23:09, 10 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Article scope

[edit]

The Cape Cod and Hyannis Railroad was more than Braintree-Cape service; the railroad was founded in 1981 or so and ran Falmouth-Hyannis services in 1983, if not earlier. See the following:

  • "Mark Snider's in Training, So Cape Cod's Cranberry Bogs Are but a Whistle-Stop Away". People. 20 (17). October 24, 1983.
  • Mrowca, Maryann (July 5, 1987). "Mass. couple engineers Boston-Cape Cod train service". The Telegraph. {{cite news}}: Italic or bold markup not allowed in: |publisher= (help)

I haven't nailed down dates yet. Also, presumably CC&H bought or leased the tracks from somebody. Mackensen (talk) 12:50, 30 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, it's tough nailing down information since there's not a lot to be found. But yes, there was Falmouth service, and also a one-year branch to Attleboro that I've noted on the RDT. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 13:30, 30 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Turns out I have the 1988 season timetable and brochure for this service, though I never rode it. I'll see what I can incorporate. Mackensen (talk) 21:38, 1 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Mackensen: What were routings were run in 1988? I can't find any information about whether Attleboro trains went to Hyannis, Falmouth, or both. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 01:58, 24 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Pi.1415926535: You've got mail. Mackensen (talk) 02:18, 24 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
