Suggestion: Most of the material referring to the mathematician's viewpoint on the subject (tangent/cotangent bundles, symplectic manifolds etc) should be scuttled away in hyperlinks or in very brief sections, since none of it is relevant to the overwhelming majority of physicists. It is distracting and even worse, misleading, implying to a new student of the subject that such information is actually useful or even necessary. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.219.43.68 (talk) 16:46, 27 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

While I would agree that the article can be improved and obscures the physical aspects by formalism, all of this formalism is not only useful but even the necessary ingredient for the whole construction to work properly. It is only due to these mathematical manifold aspects that the whole thing works. So the article should consist of two portions, a mathematical background (which definitely must be a bit expanded), followed by a physical interpretation thereof. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.95.170.225 (talk) 20:03, 5 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
