Message by Mariobrazil, 2 April 2008, 5:45pm EST: The original entry was entitled "Canjica Baiana," a terminology that actually does not exist. The actual name of the dish is "Canjica," and not "Canjica Baiana." Whoever created the original entry was probably trying to distinguish the canjica dish from the canjica corn (a type of white corn used to make the canjica dish). However, by attaching the word "baiana" (Portuguese for "from Bahia") the original author was creating a new terminology that is not actually used in the real world. No one in the Northeast of Brazil, where the dish is made, calls the dish "Canjica Baiana." Thus, I believe it is more appropriate to use the correct name of the dish, "Canjica," and add the word "dish" in parathesis to distinguish it from the canica type of corn.
