Why are the authors of this site having trouble listing the Maori seats?
[edit]TO BEGIN WITH THE SEAT OF WAIARIKI WAS LEFT OFF THE LIST 0F ELECTORATES. THEN WHEN IT WAS ADDED THE SEAT OF TE TAI TONGA IS MISSING. IS THIS A DELIBERATE MOVE TO INSULT MAORI VOTERS OR JUST CLUMSY AND AN IGNORANT OMISSION BY THE AUTHORS? Ramage47 (talk) 04:20, 21 March 2023 (UTC)
- What's listed on this page is every electorate where at least one candidate has been confirmed via a reliable source. There are many electorates not listed on this page as there aren't any confirmed candidates (and it seems your caps lock key is stuck, User:Ramage47). Schwede66 04:23, 21 March 2023 (UTC)
SCHWEDE CAN YOU GIVE ME ALL THE ELECTORATES YOU CLAIM TO BE MISSING AS YOU ARE INCORRECT. mY CAPS LOCK KEY IS NOT STUCK AS I PREFER TO TYPE THAT WAY. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ramage47 (talk • contribs)
- Actually Ramage47, it's up to you to provide evidence of confirmed candidates in those missing electorates, otherwise there's no point in adding them yet. And please read WP:SHOUT, all caps is not considered good talk page etiquette. --Pokelova (talk) 05:40, 21 March 2023 (UTC)
- YOU HAVE IT WRONG AS MY POST IS ABOUT THE MISSING THE ELECTORATE OF TE TAI TONGA FROM THE LIST NOT CANDIDATES. T
- HE ONLY SEAT MISSING IS TE tAI TONGA. YOU CLAIM THERE ARE OTHER SEATS NIT THERE AS THERE IS NO CANDIDATES. tHEREFORE I ASK YOU TO NAME ANY OTHER SEAT NOT MENTIONED. YOU MADE THAT CLAIM SO IT IS UP TO YOU TO NAME ANY OTHER ELECTORATE MISSING. SO WALK THE WALK. 101.100.131.63 (talk) 21:50, 21 March 2023 (UTC)
- If you have a reliable source confirming at least one candidate for this seat, then please add it. Or preferably get someone to do it who knows what they are doing. Ajf773 (talk) 22:11, 21 March 2023 (UTC)
Should candidates be included in electorate pages under 'election results'?
[edit]I just need a second opinion on this as I believe that the Candidates in the 2023 New Zealand general election by electorate page suffices for being able to find any candidates in a specific electorate. But @Moondragon21 has added a table to the Banks Peninsula (New Zealand electorate) page containing the candidates contesting the electorate under the section 'election results'. Should I remove this. Or if other users believe this is a good edit lets get to work on adding this to all pages? Jtwd (talk) 21:37, 20 May 2023 (UTC)
- It’s arguably not a result yet. Should go in my opinion. And either way, it makes no sense to maintain the same table on two separate pages. If we decide that it should display on two pages, we should achieve that via transclusion. Schwede66 22:53, 20 May 2023 (UTC)

- Tino pai, has been removed. Jtwd (talk) 01:55, 21 May 2023 (UTC)
Candidates
[edit]I thought I'd draw attention to two initiatives by the NZ politics task force that are of relevance to this article:
- We are asking registered parties to give us freely-licensed photos of their candidates; discussion is hosted on that item's talk page
- Work on draft bios for those candidates who are likely to make it into parliament

Why is this page not a link to an official list of candidates?
[edit]Why is this Wikipedia page even required? Surely to goodness, there's an official list of candidates put out by the NZ Electoral Commission? If there is such a page it has managed to elude me. StueyNZ (talk) 00:46, 24 August 2023 (UTC)
- Given that candidate nomination finishes mid-September, there is obviously no official list as yet. Schwede66 14:27, 24 August 2023 (UTC)
