De-stubbing CHBA
[edit]What started as a quest for best practices in foundation vapor-barrier methods in passivehaus and near-passivehaus led me to the CHBA stub page. I'm surprised it hadn't been expanded before now...it was lonely and pathetic. It still needs work but I'm not here to sell the merits of CHBA, just provide an overview and relevant links.
Due diligence for my edits included looking through the national website and several local and provincial sites, general searches to see where CHBA pops up on the web, and a specific search for surveys, studies, and white papers, etc. published by CHBA and that could be linked.
CHBA does work with other Canadian orgs (eg. National Research Council) and is cited in their respective public-facing publications, so there is some yet to be located and linked.
The federal body doesn't have too much in publicly available past studies — I assume a lot is hidden behind their membership wall — (eg., the 2008 R-2000 standards recommendations CHBA made to NRC, or their annual reports), and far be it for me to suggest how they manage their information resources and policies, but I have found more documentation made available from local and provincial levels that might be sifted through.
Each of the local and provincial level orgs has their own website/domains and future edits could include linking them directly in the article.
I don't understand the politics of CHBA and the Alberta BILD distinction, so also something to follow up on.
Obviously CHBA has a deep history in Canada's construction industry so there must be other significant points to add to a history section, beyond me for the moment.
cheers to future editors
ps. not sure how wp recognizes the updated page is not a stub anymore or if I have to flag it or what, I'll look into it more when I have time.
