POV
[edit]Considering it's Israel and all it could be worse, but I still can't accept this phrase. "A shared commitment to democratic values, understanding, and mutual respect". Both countries have a horrible colonial history - they were founded on the seizure of others' land and homes, the ethnic cleansing of that land, and the subsequent oppression of the remaining native population. This is not democratic, and it is certainly not mutual respect. --Jammoe (talk) 02:43, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
It's mean mutual respect for one another, and and they do both have democratic values. Beside,s that sounds like a phrase taken from one of their foreign affairs websites. I'd consider that phrase more NPOV though then you are thoughLemniwinks (talk) 08:06, 23 February 2009 (UTC)
This entire article is in very bad shape. In the diplomatic relations section I have removed reams of POV (especially lengthy sections offering gratuitous and unsubstantiated personal criticisms of Canadian diplomats as anti-Zionist/pro-Arab, as well as several paras that appear to have been cut and pasted from Conservative Party promotional material), and added a few sourced details, but honestly there is worse elsewhere. It really requires a top-down rewrite adhering rigorously to POV and trying to keep it focused on substance. KremlinDriver94 (talk) 23:56, 30 May 2018 (UTC)
Well my attempts to improve this article by removing slander and blatant POV was met with a complete reversion within a few hours, along with a message that I am "not allowed to edit here per ARBPIA 30/500". I will assume good faith on the part of the user, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:יניב_הורון, but I would be grateful for an explanation as to how to go about fixing an article that is biased, misleading and slanderous. [edit]The image File:Coat of arms of Canada.svg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.

New paragraphs
[edit]I am suggesting that this page become a summary of policies, statements and decisions by Canadian politicians regarding Israel. I created these new paragraphs and will contribute as I can. Feel free to help. Emmanuelm (talk) 03:06, 17 March 2010 (UTC)

Getting extended-confirmed protection on the page
[edit]Hey @יניב הורון: I noticed that quite a few of your recent edits have been reverting non-extended-confirmed editors; maybe requesting this page to be extended-confirmed protected could help lessen your workload? Hickland (talk) 00:24, 17 June 2018 (UTC)

To replace "almost three years after" with "three days before the first anniversary of". 203.186.171.150 (talk) 01:50, 6 February 2023 (UTC)
- Not done: proposed wording is worse. significantly worse - "the first anniversary of pushing Global Affairs Canada to increase its security" is terrible Cannolis (talk) 03:33, 6 February 2023 (UTC)
- Should be "almost one year after". (What do you mean by "the first anniversary of pushing Global Affairs Canada to increase its security"?) 203.186.171.150 (talk) 13:30, 6 February 2023 (UTC)
- Not done: The article referenced states "almost three years after" as it's referencing the embassy, not the current ambassador. The wording you recommended is in regards to the new ambassador, who is not at all mentioned in that paragraph. Hey man im josh (talk) 19:45, 8 February 2023 (UTC)
- @Hey man im josh: Thanks. I've actually been talking about the lede:
To substitute "Canada recognised Israel on 11 May 1949, almost one year after the Israeli Declaration of Independence, ..." for "Canada recognised Israel on 11 May 1949, three days before the first anniversary of the Israeli Declaration of Independence, ...". 203.186.171.150 (talk) 13:20, 9 February 2023 (UTC)- Ohhhhh, in the future please try to be more specific and clear about what you're requesting. It looks like the wording has been changed to "almost one year after" from what you describe. Is this acceptable in your eyes? Hey man im josh (talk) 13:51, 9 February 2023 (UTC)
- @Hey man im josh: Thanks. I've actually been talking about the lede:
- I must have been drunk... I meant to type: To substitute "Canada recognized Israel on 11 May 1949, three days before the first anniversary of the Israeli Declaration of Independence, ..." for "Canada recognized Israel on 11 May 1949, almost one year after the Israeli Declaration of Independence, ...". My apologiess. 203.186.171.150 (talk) 13:10, 10 February 2023 (UTC)
- Not done The added simplicity of the current wording is worth the slight ambiguity GiovanniSidwell (talk) 22:36, 17 February 2023 (UTC)
