Scream before the solo!
[edit]Does anyone else think this article should mention ?Paul McCartney's high-pitched shriek before George Harrison's solo? The guy with the axe - aaaaaaargh!!! 16:19, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
Hello??!! Hello??!! Is there anybody in there??!! I posted this query three months ago... --The guy with the axe - aaaaaaargh!!! (talk) 16:40, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, sadly I’m always here. Just given it a listen, but I can’t hear anything extra special about it. Is there something that should be mentioned then?--Patthedog (talk) 18:55, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
- It's more about warning potential listeners than anything else - after all, this would be pretty high on my list of the most blood-curdling screams of all time. By the time you read this I'll already have got it into the article. --The guy with the axe - aaaaaaargh!!! (talk) 15:22, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:04 cantbuymelove.jpg
[edit]Image:04 cantbuymelove.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

TWO!? versions?
[edit]This article doesn't differentiate between the Hard days night album version and the more common radio version. Does anyone have any info on the difference; the only thing i know is the hard days night version is in D rather C —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.175.25.45 (talk) 12:11, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
- The radio version is the actual single which is detailed in the article. I can’t find any reference to a different mix or edit used for the film soundtrack. Also, I’m not aware of any (Beatles) version of it in D.--Patthedog (talk) 17:37, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
- Heres the version in D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gU8s35o-J5k
slightly different overall composition, sounds more "beatlesy" in my opinion. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.175.25.45 (talk) 12:17, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
- Interesting! This is one of the earlier takes from the Pathe Marconi sessions by the sound of the harmonies. Mark Lewisohn describes them as such in his "The Complete Beatles Recording Sessions". They’d dropped this treatment by take four in favour of the recognisable version we all know. So this is an out-take and it wasn’t used in the film . I wasn’t aware it was in a higher key though, unless it has been speeded up (although it doesn’t sound speeded up - sounds like McCartney is having to strain a bit!). Thanks for that.--Patthedog (talk) 15:02, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
Paul McCartney cover version?
[edit]If he wrote the song, it doesn't make much sense to call his live solo version a cover. I mean, technically, it is a Beatles song but come on... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.218.238.39 (talk) 16:12, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
"Somebody Love"
[edit]Many people mistake the title of this song and refer to it as "Somebody Love". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.58.66.194 (talk) 13:49, 18 November 2009 (UTC)

Categorization
[edit]- Just a quick question...Bossanoven reverted my category addition with the edit summary:
“ | We only retain the original version for year in categories. | ” |
- Is there a guideline or consensus for that? Erpert blah, blah, blah... 00:49, 21 February 2015 (UTC)

Cover versions
[edit]I think it's notable that Cab Calloway sang this in his 1965 Sweden stage show. It's essentially a cover of Ella Fitzgerald's 1964 big band arrangement as sung on Ed Sullivan. The only citations I find are on YouTube, on videos with doubtful copyright authority. Here's the line I'd like to see, but I can't back it up. If anyone can find an acceptable citation, I think it would be a worthwhile addition. Thanks.
Cab Calloway, in 1965 at age 57, included a cover of Fitzgerald's big band arrangement in his stage show in Sweden.
Both Calloway and Fitzgerald sing "Can't buy me love" 3 times in the intro. Both use instrumental fills where the Beatles sing "No, no no. Nooooooo!" It's reasonably clear that they are the same arrangement, but I have no secondary source to document that. Danaxtell (talk) 17:55, 19 February 2022 (UTC)
I believe I found a source for the Ella Fitzgerald cover's single position

I believe it might be good, but I don't know how to add this to the page. 2A00:23C8:110E:DA01:4504:FE1E:CF5F:EB2C (talk) 15:46, 9 May 2022 (UTC)
