Encyclopedic Information
[edit]While moving this information from the Sheehan main article helped to improve specific size of that one, it only really moved the underlining problem (that of unnecessary and useless information). In hopes of correcting that problem I have below indicated the chronology entries that seem to have no value and no place on Wikipedia. However, before removing it seems best to allow justification for the inclusion of these events to be given. Mind you, my reasoning for questioning all of the below is that none of them appear to have any long range significance or relevance.
"August 13, 2005: Cindy Sheehan makes front page news in the Washington Post.[35]"
"August 13, 2005: Activists in Chico, California found "Camp Casey Chico," in solidarity with Cindy Sheehan and supporters in Crawford, Texas."
"August 14, 2005: News first breaks regarding Sheehan's husband's filing for divorce.[43][44][45]."
"August 16, 2005: MoveOn.org announces a nationwide "Vigil for Cindy Sheehan" to take place Wednesday, August 17.[49]"
"August 22, 2005: Casey Sheehan's boots are removed from the American Friends Service Committee's traveling exhibition "Eyes Wide Open: The Human Cost of War," in order to return them to Sheehan.[66]"
"August 24, 2005: Sheehan returns to Camp Casey."
"August 25, 2005: Casey Sheehan's combat boots are returned to Sheehan by the American Friends Service Committee[69][70][71] "
In particular, Camp Casey Chico is oddly placed since, though its candlelight vigil drew a degree of people, at any other given time it had around 5 or 7 people camping out in and making largely un-usable the Chico Children's Park. Additionally, to my knowledge, other than Wikipedia, it drew absolutely no attention outside of Butte County.

- As per the above post, I have removed those indicated entries. Once again, these entries were removed because they have no particular significance to later events. An exhaustive list of when Sheehan was mentioned in the media (as many of these entries are little more) is hardly encyclopedic or desirable. Thus, if one desires to reincorporate this information, please indicate its significance. Thought 21:09, 21 February 2006 (UTC)
yes I know this isn't good enough for some
[edit]http://www.bradblog.com/archives/00001730.htm
- Revised sentence (hundreds across America instead of "in every state") works far better for me (and allows us to include the District of Columbia, which is not a state) and doesn't need a further citation. I also removed the POV phrase from the sentence. --Habap 13:17, 7 March 2006 (UTC)
POV
[edit]The sections about support and those about the views of other parents of military personnel killed in Iraq are pretty irrelevant to the article, which is supposed to be about Camp Casey, not about Cindy Sheehan's larger anti-war agenda. The information in those sections belongs in other articles. Some parts of the Chronology are relevant, at least those that have to do with events at Camp Casey, not those about Sheehan's publicity, other actions, or the actions of President Bush. ? Seems like you've gone off the mark with all the extraneous information about Shehan. This is a link about one of two Camp Caseys. There should certainly be a link to Shehan but there shouldn't be all the stuff about her and her cause on this page. This page should be a few paragraphs at most. Come on, lets make Wikipedia a credible source! --—Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.1.178.124 (talk • contribs)
Revisions needed
[edit]I was going to modify the opening paragraphs to both state when Bush left to deal with Katrina (which I can do) and to relate what happened to Camp Casey after Bush left (which I don't know). I also don't know if Sheehan ever returned to Crawford, as she stated she would. I'll check her article to see if there are any clues there. --Habap (talk) 20:15, 12 October 2010 (UTC)
I was at Camp Casey for several weekends in a row. We drove to Waco from the Dallas area and drove out to the Peace House and then remained at Camp Casey during the day - so I was there for many of the events and my partner for many of the rest. We also went to Washington. What isn't captured here are the sheer number of celebrities and others who lent their aid. Larry McMurtry, former Johnson aide and ERA executive Liz Carpenter, Rev. Al Sharpton, Martin Sheen (my partner saw him, I didn't), Joan Baez are but a few. And these people not only lent their voices but money to the cause. Their attention kept the media coming for more. The lackadaisical and lackluster White House Press Corps was forced to be there - and I can tell you without a doubt as an eyewitness that these people were the most uninvolved, boring bunch of journalists you've ever seen. Larry McMurtry on the other spurred people on, Liz Carpenter who didn't live much longer gave her last full measure. And her speech through a bullhorn to George Bush was legendary. This from a wheelchair bound octogenarian who was in failing health. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dfwenigma (talk • contribs) 20:22, 30 November 2014 (UTC)

Assessment comment
[edit]The comment(s) below were originally left at Talk:Camp Casey, Crawford, Texas/Comments, and are posted here for posterity. Following several discussions in past years, these subpages are now deprecated. The comments may be irrelevant or outdated; if so, please feel free to remove this section.
This articl, far from neutral, is an advocacy piece for the anti-war movement, completely referenced from the standpoint of those involved in its operations. Viewpoints expressed are strictly limited to the left-liberal cause espoused by Sheehan, with little of substance considered from the opposing view. 12.145.89.10 00:26, 19 July 2007 (UTC)Daryl Baker12.145.89.10 00:26, 19 July 2007 (UTC) |
