Contesting speedy deletion

[edit]

This article is an extension of the existing article Kurzweil Educational Systems. Seeing as this company now owns Kurzweil Educational Systems, it seems disingenuous that this article should be nominated for speedy deletion while Kurzweil Educational Systems is not. I don't see why a stub article should be instantly nominated for speedy deletion, since the point of a stub is to see if it will grow. Given the depth of and cross-linking to Kurzweil, I see no reason to suspect this article will not behave similarly. Additionally, see my response to the Speedy Deletion of ExploreLearning, which is a subsidiary of Cambium Learning Technologies. — Epastore (talk) 18:31, 17 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Epastore - do you know if it will be possible to find independent reliable sources (newspapers, books etc) that attest to the notability of this company? That is really the only standard that matters on Wikipedia. I'm not asking you to actually PRODUCE such citations, but just whether you think it's likely that they exist or not. I think so, but am not sure. I do know that their parent company is notable (it is publicly traded), and also that at least two of their subsidiary companies (the two which currently have Wikipedia articles) are notable. It may be that this article should be subsumed into a new article about their parent: Cambium Learning Group. — Epastore (talk) 22:05, 19 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
