personal information or personal data
[edit]Dear Richard, I saw you modified PI to PD , but most of the legislature and citable references quote it as Personal Information only. I believe it will be pertinent to leave it as PI only to keep it relevant. Please let me know your thoughts on the same. I am not making the changes myself right now to avoid any editwar per se. - Do we have a primary source to confirm this? as they mean the same thing. We should certainly keep linking to the personal data article even if we do. ♫ RichardWeiss talk contribs 15:00, 25 March 2019 (UTC)
- I agree with the original comment, based on the language in the statute personal information is a more appropriate term for this article. California Civil Code section 1798.140 provides definitions for the statute. Subparagraph (v) defines "personal information," which is used throughout the statute rather than personal data. I would propose editing to keep the links to the personal data page, which itself notes personal information as an alternative term. Thewikieditrix (talk) 21:47, 11 August 2023 (UTC)
California-only sites and offerings
[edit]In the Responsibility and accountability section it says "California-only sites and offerings." What on earth does this mean, it is sourced but unless we know what it means it needs removing. ♫ RichardWeiss talk contribs 14:19, 26 March 2019 (UTC)
- As nobody can help out ehre and as the ref is behind a pay-wall, so doesn't help, I have removed this. if someone knows what it means and can add a verifiable ref please do re-add. ♫ RichardWeiss talk contribs 12:05, 27 March 2019 (UTC)
Do Not Sell My Personal Information” link on the home page of the website of the business
[edit]By clicking on the source for this, i ended up learning that actually it is not no enough to out the link on the homepage, but that "they have to display it clearly at the bottom of any page where they collect your information" the source is https://www.caprivacy.org/facts/information-control — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A01:6500:A044:CBD:A64D:67A5:40D5:5300 (talk) 21:54, 22 March 2020 (UTC)
