Clinical Social Work:

Clinical social work is a mental health profession. All states license clinical social workers to independently provide psychotherapy, counseling with children, adolescents,and adults school social work, forensic social work, couples counseling, group counseling, and other forms of mental health treatment. The most common licenses are licensed clinical social worker (LCSW)and licensed independent social worker (LICSW. All LCSWs/LICSWs have a Master's in Social Work (MSW) or a Doctorate in Social Work (Ph.D.) plus 2-3 post-graduate years of experience and supervision. LCSWs/LICSWs must also pass a national clinical examination from the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB). There are approximately 200,000 LCSWs/LICSWs in the US.
